Lower Prospect Canal Reserve

About Lower Prospect Canal Reserve

The Lower Prospect Canal Reserve is a unique bushland corridor in the heart of Sydney (Greystanes) Australia.

Lower Prospect Canal Reserve Description

This page has been created by the Canal Reserve Action Group (www. crag-inc.org) who are the community guardians of the Lower Prospect Canal Reserve.

CRAG is currently battling the NSW State Government over their actions to destroy a section of the Canal Reserve.

The Canal Reserve cycleway was one of the safest cycleways in Sydney, as it did not have any road crossings for it’s 7. 7kms length. This all changed in 2008 when a section was bulldozed to make way for the Prospect Highway and Liverpool to Blacktown Transitway.

When the roads are complete, walkers and cyclists will be faced with crossing a six lane highway at a signalised crossing. The original plans showed a bridge across the highway but the RTA has reneged on this commitment.

CRAG is seeking community support to have the Minister for Roads over-ride this bad RTA decision. We must have a bridge as promised to make the cycleway as safe as it used to be.

Become a fan of this page and go to the campaign website – www. build-our-bridge.org to send a letter or email to the Roads Minister.

For those interested in the Canal Reserve we also maintain www. canalreserve.org as a community resource.
