This was a post I made last year, I guess the fact it is our spring 🌸 made me reminisce on my spring adventures in the US ❁ “Spring is in the air and the Sun ☀️ has come out to play in Williamsburg. I've learnt many things about the way dental health care is offered since being in the US, and I can't wait to implement these innovative thoughts and ideas in my business 🇺🇸✨🙌🏻” ❁ Reading this made me smile and to be honest almost brought tears to my eyes. I wasn’t just saying th...ose things, I really meant them. My yearning to find out more and to try to improve my practice was such a natural thought and inbuilt desire. ❁ And that’s exactly what I have done. ❁ I DID take these adventures and utilise my learning to implement better practices for my patients. ❁ Sometimes parents think it’s odd that we look at things and comment on things that aren’t classically considered ‘dental’. But I don’t care. Dentistry should be hugely about prevention, so I will continue to take my business down this path, and when it eventually becomes the norm and the Australian healthcare system finally catches up to the way Europe, the US etc etc do things, then I will sit there with probably this look on my face 😌 ❁ Cheers 🥂 to functional medicine and dentistry 😁

That’s a wrap Kids Day Out! ❁ It was our first time there and we weren’t exactly sure what to expect, but in the end it turned into a fantastic and fun day! ❁ We met so many lovely children and had over 300 enquiries from interested parents, what an overwhelming response!... ❁ Congratulations to our winners to the PlayStation 4 & family pass to Taronga Zoo. We will be in touch to organise to get your prizes to you! ❁ Little Eric did a great job being our mascot and loved the attention. As a side note, it was at this very moment of having this picture taken that he did a poo 💩 explosion.. I think the look of concentration on his face makes that pretty obvious now 😂

M Y O B R A C E \ O N E M O N T H 😱 ✫ To the untrained eye this might not look like much, but in the orthodontic world this is great progress! ✫ This little star ⭐️ patient of ours was suffering from a host of functional issues such as snoring, teeth grinding, Venus pooling (dark under eye circles), swollen tonsils, digestive issues, behavioral issues & learning difficulties, open mouth posture, crowded teeth & a traumatic deep bite, just to name a few!... ✫ Straight away we knew something had to be done and so we began Myobrace treatment as part of an overall functional plan. ✫ This before and after shot is a one month review since the Myobrace commencement. In just this short time, we can now visibly see the bottom teeth as before they were so severely hidden and causing damage to the soft tissue behind the upper front teeth. ✫ There’s still a way to go, but it’s amazing to see what can happen, in a short period of time, without the use of braces!

Who’s been struggling with gut or digestive health? ❀ I know for a long time it was a problem for me. Going through the process of diagnosing, treating, and changing habits has been a big personal journey of mine. ❀ Well here’s a term that I found to be very useful & life changing... ❀ SIBO ❀ Sounds weird doesn’t it? Well it stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. The small intestine is the part after the stomach, and before the large intestine. And guess what, there shouldn’t be certain bacteria there! ❀ When bugs that normally live in the large intestine creep up to the small intestine it can cause digestive problems. ❀ Symptoms include, bloating, gas, reflux, poor digestion, and yep you guessed it, bad breath. 😷 ❀ SIBO causes certain carbohydrates to be broken down where it shouldn’t be. ONE DAY SMILE MAKEOVER MAGIC ✨ ❀ Our lovely patient came to see us with the chief complaint being she hated the discolourations on her teeth. ❀ Over a thorough consultation with Dr Steven all options were discussed in length. A final treatment plan was agreed upon which took into consideration the patients’ budget, expectations and time frame. The final decision meant the patient would undergo our one day smile makeover so the treatment could be carried out before the patient...s wedding 👰🏼 ❀ Although Dr Steven likes to treat holistically and attempt remineralisation of the enamel using changes to diet, although included in the patients over all treatment plan it would not have any major effect on the appearance of the enamel. ❀ Have you ever seen discolourations like this on enamel before? ❀ The condition is called Enamel Amelogenesis or more commonly known as Enamel Hypoplasia. This means there has been a developmental disturbance of the teeth characterised by deficient or defective enamel matrix formation. ❀ In mild cases there are simple and effective treatments in which we carry out regularly. A personal favourite of mine is resin Infiltration or enamel microabrasion! However, given the excessive hypoplasia in this case we needed to seek a treatment that would give 💯 results as this was important to the patient. ❀ At Lumi, due to our state of the art 🖼 cosmetic printer and my high level of training in cosmetic design, we are able to carry out procedures such as this in a short time (as in 8-12 hours!), unlike traditional methods which involve multiple appointments and impressions spread over 2 - 3 weeks. And due to not having to outsource, we are able to carry out this procedure at a much more affordable price, even whilst using the latest in porcelain hybrid technology. ❀ The result? Full smile-line hybrid porcelain veneers. Have never liked go to the dentist and who does...My experience here at Luminous Dentistry was nothing but brilliant. Ben and all the staff are very caring and professional. I was never talked into anything.I had to have a crown and with their state of the art equipment it only took just over two hours to have the crown placed in.They have a big tv to watch with headphones and they constantly reassuring you. With the business looking totally new and very modern equipment and yes they have candles burning.The price of the crown was just as much as nearly every other dentist charges if not less....Can not recommend this dentist high enough

Having avoided a dentist for more than 10 years because of a series of awful experiences with other dentists, I am really relieved that I have finally found a local practice that is extremely professional, warm and welcoming. I can see a negative review below, but this is entirely contradictory to my experience. I was sold nothing, charged an extremely reasonable fee and received the best customer service I have had in years. Cass is an extremely gentle hygienist and I highly recommend them!

Luminous Dentistry is a highly decorative day spa masquerading as a Dental Practice. There may be a dentist in there somewhere, but blink and you'll miss him. I attended for a routine clean and scale, and walked out an hour later having not had a clean and scale. I did watch a movie wearing headphones, smelt some scented candles, played with an ipad and experienced an uninvited 360 degree scan of my head. I got the hard sell on all of the services offered, and some lovely chats with some perfectly coiffed dental assistants. I left with five more appointments booked in, a bill in excess of $400 (not sure what for- perhaps it was the check up and the 360 scan -neither of which I had requested) and NO CLEAN OR SCALE. The tactic is to seduce you with sweet smelling candles and breathy conversation- perhaps in an attempt to help you forget you are actually at the dentist. Well if that is what you are after then you'll certainly have an experience. As for me, well I'm heading back to old Dr Sausage Fingers down the road for my clean and scale.
