// SHELTER - SOCIAL JUSTICE SPEAKER NIGHT - GLP POINTS // On Thursday 18 October MULS Social Justice will be hosting its second speaker night of the year, this time with the theme of 'Shelter'. If you're interested in hearing about your rights as a tenant, issues of homelessness, increasing housing prices in Sydney, and the denial of refugees seeking access to shelter, then come along! The event is running from 5.30-7.30pm, there will be free food and you can claim GLP points. What more could you want?

CEO Adam Long started the business as a document automation platform to help small law firms be more profitable by drafting advanced legal documents and transform the legal sector through automation.

You are invited to a seminar on the phenomenon of image-based abuse!
The presenters, image-based law reform activist and Macquarie law alumni Noelle Martin and Clayton Utz Partner Pip Mitchell will discuss:
... • new laws implemented to criminalise the non-consensual distribution of intimate images without consent; • personal accounts of the impact of image-based abuse; and • reforms to legislation proposed by social groups.
This event is proudly co-hosted with Clayton Utz.
Following the discussion, you will have the opportunity to network with speakers legal professionals, academics and students. Drinks and canapés will be provided.

Each semester the Macquarie University Law Society (MULS) holds a Social Justice Speaker event which addresses a topical social justice issue, creating a forum for discussion and debate surrounding its relationship with the law.
In Session 2 2018, we will be exploring the topic of 'shelter'. The speakers for this event will be sharing their personal findings and opinions from their own research or work experience. This event will be a great opportunity for students to hear about pressing issues we are facing today as well as potential career paths.

The Cancer Council Pro Bono Program assists cancer patients and carers to access legal, financial and other professional services, when they would otherwise be unable to do so, because of cost, illness or other barriers. Clerks have primary res...ponsibility for contacting clients to determine their legal or financial issues and take detailed instructions, and gain valuable skills and experience in client interviewing, legal research, fact investigation and analysis and legal drafting.
The Pro Bono Program is recruiting law students in their 3rd year or above, to volunteer 2 days per week.

// MULS COMPETITION UPDATE // Last week, Sam Marshall, Cory MP, Anneliese Cooper represented MULS in the Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot for 2018. Congratulations to our team who after months of preparation had an enjoyable week of advocacy, mooting a problem written by Commonwealth Solicitor-General, Dr. Stephen Donoghue SC.
Although the team did not break, our sources can confirm that they 100% won the case discussion in the pub after break night. Samantha also received the 'Friendly Face Award', presented to her at the Gala Dinner in the presence of the Honourable Justice Bell.
