Made In Design Australia Facebook is promoting our bricks and mortar and online store that has been in the pipeline for many years.
Made in Design was initally going to be called Made For the Love Of It. Not only was this a wee bit too wordy, but also on investigation, discovered that the model of ONLY handmade products was not viable. The costs of the products in order to cover the costs of the store became too expensive. Hence Made In Design or MinD for short. The store is an eclectic blend of handmade, fair-trade and mass produced products, but all slightly different from the norm. As the name suggests, the premise of the business is Design. We didn't want to be like most stores and carry the same products as we knew there were companies and individuals creating wonderful, innovative products but needed a curated voice. I think that access to beauty and design should not be limited and hope to move more product rather than sit back and put a ridiculous mark up on so that only a few are able to afford.

We are hoping to carry a majority of stock that is ethically produced, both environmentally and socially but we are not limiting ourselves to this to begin with.

The website will be a curated website with carefully chosen items. Over my research I have established more and more that although the internet in many ways is wonderful, many gift and retail sites hold just far too many items and hours pass by before a purchase is made, if at all. Through a curated site, I am selling the Brand. I believe that I have found interesting, different, beautiful products and am so excited about showcasing them.

We hope the online side of things will be up and running by mid October latest. Watch this space and be ready to share . . . . . . . . . . please!
