Maranguka is working to improve outcomes and creating better coordinated support for vulnerable families and children through the true empowerment of the local Aboriginal communityMaranguka was established by a grassroots coalition of concerned local Aboriginal residents who wanted to see positive change in their community. The Bourke community created a new way of doing community business called the Maranguka Initiative, meaning ‘caring for others' in Ngemba language. Maranguka empowers community to coordinate the right mix and timing of services through an Aboriginal community owned and led, multi-disciplinary team working in partnership with relevant government and non-government agencies. Maranguka is working to improve outcomes and creating better coordinated support for vulnerable families and children through the true empowerment of the local Aboriginal community.
