Good basic service

My son and I stayed for 6 nights for the Rugby League World Cup.
Hotel is in a great location for access to City Centre and Waterfront areas.
Train stations are not plentiful but Kings Cross and St James' are in walking distance.
All visitors should be aware of the reputation of the Kings Cross area to the left of the hotel. The wharf area to the right is great with plenty of cafes and restaurants.
The hotel itself is good value.Donna in reception was very helpful.
Rooms and room service perfectly adequate.
Good breakfast choice although dining area could get cramped. The one attendant appeared to be a little stressed and gave impression of hurrying guests to finish and move on.
Plenty of tourist info available. Secure place for documents available. Good laundry facilities. Also made use of secure parking .
In general ....very good value for money, accessible hotel.

It's a quiet place.. The receptionist was very helpful.. Good breakfast options.. But limited options for people who follow Vegan or Vegetarian Diet.. Overall I like this place..

On first appearance we were really happy with our little hotel room, simple and functional, a little dated but we didn't mind, however the feeling of homeliness quickly disappeared when we got to know the nature of its immediate surrounding neighbourhood, which led us to recognise the lack of security the hotel has. The hotel is in what I would call 'the hood', laced with homeless junkies and questionable people, even seeing a man sit on the curd and shoot up just 5 metres from the entry to this hotel. Now, yes, it may be in walking distance to all the wonders of Sydney, but as two 19 year old girls, none of that was accessible to us at night due to how scared we were for our safety if we had to walk home after dark, and in our attempts to catch a taxi home we were continuously ripped off because the drivers either couldn't find the hotel, or knew they could take advantage of the fact that we had no choice but to be driven home because of how dangerous the area was by night. We had knocking on our room door at early hours of the morning, and constantly felt the need to check behind us as we walked into our room to make sure we hadn't been followed.
We dealt with rude cleaning staff who forced us out of our room so they could clean rather than coming back in a half hour, although their cleaning efforts often left much to be desired with mould galore, hairs on the shower wall upon arrival along with a huge snot smear,
Cups were not replaced with clean ones, and beds were left unmade, and we didn't receive a spoon for tea and coffee until our last day.
On the up side, the wifi was fast, the free breakfast was lovely, and the reception staff were lovely when you could find them, we were given maps and directions to popular places on arrival, however it sometimes seemed as though you were an inconvenience to them..

all in all, this hotel needs to work on its ambience, I feel that having more hands on, and on sight staff might make the place seem less nursing home-y and more hotel like. I know there isn't much they can do about the neighbourhood but I feel more security would go a long way, including the door locking mechanisms of the room doors that weren't explained to us, leaving us to go 2 nights with our door unknowingly being unlocked, security cameras in halls, and the doors between buildings should have locking a locking system, as it all feels a little too open and accessible.
Overall, we ended up pushing our beds together and being home by 7 every night because we both felt so unsafe, sleeping with the bathroom light on every night.
I wouldn't recommend staying here alone, or as young female travellers.

Great value for your money clean & comfortable beds, breakfast included. Staff very helpful. This is not a modern trendy hotel but is in a good location !

Rooms are pretty old! Aircon is loud and old. Nice breakfasts. Some problems with a payment. I will not choise this hotel again. Find something better! And toilets awful but they are making them new as i remember.

Older, but very clean rooms. Friendly staff. Breakfast included and garage optional are a great plus.

We love this friendly hotel and have stayed many times. Close to city, shops, museums and galleries and botanical gardens. Cheap, comfortable. Free breakfast and wifi is a bonus, especially with a family. It's very quiet too.

It's a nice quite place and they put on a fantastic breakfast. The only negative thing is the rooms are small.
I would most definitely stay here again.
