Packed full of symbolic imagery, Sun Xun’s ‘21 Grams’ is comprised of a series of black-and-white pastel drawings that took over three years to complete. The artist drew the work title from American doctor Duncan MacDougall’s writings, which argue that the human body weighs 21 grams less immediately after death, and attribute this loss to the weight of the soul leaving the body. Take a seat and watch the work in the Level One Galleries, now open.
