Super disappointed!

We are two locals who decided to have a girls night away from home.

We called to order room service from the menu in the room at 7pm to be told. “Room service can’t be ordered due to the restaurant being booked out” & were told we should of pre-ordered room service...I’ve never heard of this before �

Room was full of mould on shower accessories/ roof and the sink and towel rack were rusted.

Wouldn’t recommend to any visitors to town.

Ordinary food (sent it back twice for a well over cooked lamb dish and ended up not eating) and tired rooms for Sydney prices. Down rated the next morning now that I have seen the rust in the shower, broken shower head, TV did not work and no one available at 8:30pm because reception closes early and not even a biscuit to go with the measly 2 sachets of coffee provided for a double room.

Excellent location from which to explore the South Coast. Large comfortable rooms which have recently been refreshed. Onsite restaurant is worth visting.

Peaceful and quiet place.
Outdoor dinning area and pool are wonderful.

Got married here 2 years ago and it was the worst mistake of my life. Before booking i was given a chance to view how they can setup. I was told it was an actual decorator that comes in to set up and i asked for the exact same as what they had done and even took photos. I specifically asked if the exact same candles etc will be used. I purchased the silver package. On the day the decorations were very cheap. Candles were very uneven as they were so cheap and had to be propped up to stop them falling over. Chaircovers and sashes and tablerunners were also alot cheaper than the setup i had asked for and the quality was lacking everywhere. Staff were rude. The food wasnt what we were assured it would be. Left my guests out in the cold when i wad told theyd be let in at 6pm as thats what i paid for. I had to argue with them to let my guests in about 7pm. They lost my wedding cake and cut the reception short by 3 hours. They wouldnt accept responsibilty for ruining my wedding day, wouldnt offer me partial refund or anything it was like as soon as they had all our money they didnt care what level of service they provided us. I definatly didnt deserve for my wedding day to be like that and 2 years later i still regret ever booking with mercure gerringong. There are alot of other things that went wrong but id be writing a novel so please take my advice and save yourself the heartache and book with another venue thatll actually go above and beyond to make your day perfect.

On the edge of Gerringong, quiet and relaxed, good size standard room. Restaurant is good but a little stuffy if you are traveling solo. I have stayed here a couple of times and it's a good price compared to the local competition.

If I could leave no stars I would for their despicable customer service!

Imagine waking up in the dead of the night to something crawling on you so you jump up turn on your light and millions of those small tiny brown cockroaches scurry everywhere kitchen/bedroom and bathroom? Traumatising right? We are not talking about large bush cockroaches, we are talking small tiny infestation cockroaches that get inside electricals and breed, well my friend had the unfortunate reality of experiencing this. Now for the despicable customer service part:
When telling the Mercure Gerringong Resort about the ordeal they were told the OWNER would call them, well that didn’t happen my friends had to chase them up (if you OWNED a hotel and this ordeal went down wouldn’t you want to address it?) anyway when the owner finally spoke to them the first thing he said was “did you get it on camera” (yeh mate because at 4 in the morning when I’ve just whitenesed millions of cockroaches scurry back into the back of the fridge, dishwasher and wherever else they came from I’m really reaching for my phone) when my friend told him no she hadn’t the owner said “well if you didn’t get it on camera there will be no refund” (ahhhhh what refund no one said anything about a refund) where’s your acknowledgement where is the “we are so sorry this happened to you?

From the other reviews on here it’s clear that this isn’t the first time they’ve had complaints about cockroaches so they are very aware they have a problem.
Usually I don’t write reviews unless They are my own experiences but I was there when my friends had to call back and I heard first hand how the owner spoke and what he said. Some people forget word of mouth is the BEST type of advertisement and the only thing that travels faster then good word of mouth is BAD word of mouth and Mercure Gerringong maybe next time you’ll address situations differently.

Went to a wedding at The Mercure And during the wedding and daylight hours everything was fine up until we went to bed and the light went off, at 4.30 am I woke up to something crawling up my arm, I jumped out of bed and turned the main lights to the room on only to dicover an infestation of cochroaches all running around the kitchen floor and up the fridge and around the cupboards, I then turned on the bathroom light and was mortified to see cochroaches in the sink, bath and there was one even on the toilet seat. Never in my life have I felt more disgusted staying in accomodation like that.
I felt trapped because we could not leave due to we both had consumed alcohol at the wedding. We left very early in the morning and when we rang the resort to tell them of our experience got told they will send email to owner and he will rang us. He never did so we had to keep chasing it up, we finally got a hold of him to only be told that we are liars. I also had left my iPhone charger there accidently because we rushed to leave the premises, they have no idea where my charger is! It was absolutely repulsive and I am going to take further action as they won't refund and are extremely rude. Would NEVER recommend or stay here again!!!

Beautiful town by the beach. The rooms are a little dated and the cleaning could have been a liitle more thorough. The restaurant was nice and the staff were friendly.

Everything was nice and clean but my room did smell a bit like mould. Friends room was better so I think I just got a bad one. Otherwise all good.

Rooms could do with a touch up n upgrade but restaurant is amazing and so the best expresso martinis

I don't like this place.
The room has a good size. That is the only positive.
The floor is dirty, feel it hasn't been vacuumed for a longing time.
The feeling is bad in general.

Run of the mill.

Just seems to do enough without trying tht extra bit to impress.

Love Gerringong so it works, just, be nicer to have some personal touches rather than messing up your request for an extra bed (and not telling you it wasn't possible until check in)!
