About Mini Sumo

A production company by Marianne Khoo & David Barker.

Mini Sumo Description

The fragmentation of screen comms has led to new and exciting discoveries in story-telling and engagement. While the more traditional methods are still with us, new platforms are abundant, and MiniSumo is focused at the intersection of these technologies.

In 2011 we co-created one of Australia's first successful online web-series, followed closely by a pioneering interactive music video clip for Melbourne rockers, Stonefield. Recently, we co-created a transmedia campaign for Nightingale Floor, an artist run initiative to help protect the forests in Indonesia and Borneo, and save the Orangutan's natural habitat. We also collaborate with some of Australia's most successful tech companies - Atlassian & Hotels Combined - to produce engaging online content.

Co-Founders, David Barker and Marianne Khoo's work has been recognised by award shows and festivals worldwide. Most recently, David received his 3rd Australian Director's Guild Award in 2014, this time for Best Music Video - Nightingale Floor. Composed and sung by Sallie Campbell and Kate Miller-Heidke respectively, the clip is part of the above mentioned transmedia campaign. Please, take a look at the website and learn how palm oil production is destroying forests at an unbelievable rate. . . . . something like 300 soccer fields - Every Hour!
