Even before the pandemic, many of us were concerned about young people's on-screen time. . . . . . then distance learning forced us ALL there. Can we use technology as an active creator and spend less time in passive consumption?  I think we can. At Imagination Camp, young campers are virtually invited into my home to share in the joy of imagination, creativity and laughter while learning the secrets of songwriting and storytelling. Campers will collaborate in creating content that can be shared digitally if desired. We will use phones, computer mics, cameras, pads, computer and zoom technology to capture audio and video. I use Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro in the editing process. Learning these skills is not part of the camp however I will share the process with campers so they understand the journey the song took to reach its final digit product. I spent most of May arranging my home into a summer camp stage set to make the experience more fun and engaging. However, I soon realized that this make-believe decorating I undertook was really just the excuse I needed to create a fun space for myself. I should've done this long ago! I look around my space now and it sure puts a smile on my face. I hope it'll do the same for you all. In the words of poet Louise Gluck "We look at the world once, in childhood. The rest is memory. "Not in my world Louise. Imagination is shown great respect, something to be cultivated as a survivor's skill in this ever-changing world.
