58565_347041582063853_1558252023_nDiederik Gelderman BVSc, MVS graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in 1977.

He established Greenhills Veterinary Hospital in 1990 and transformed it from a struggling 1 man practice into a burgeoning regional Veterinary Hospital servicing the wider Hunter Valley.

This business won many Australian Veterinary as well as non-Veterinary (customer service) awards from 1996 till 2005.

Diederik sold his practice in July 2009 to move to Exeter and to be with Jennifer.

However over the last 4 years, he so missed the clinical work, the clients and above all his patients that in June 2013 he started a small, intimate one-on-one house call practice focusing on dogs, cats and his beloved horses.

Dr Gelderman comes from a very Equine background, he was riding at the age of two years and enthusiastically competing at jumping, dressage and eventing from a very early age. Even during 1st year University he still had a team of horses in work.

During his career in Maitland he carried out all aspects of routine as well as non-routine horse work; including lameness examination and treatment, castrations, collection and insemination (as well as exportation) of raw and frozen semen, suitability examination, routine and complex surgery and much more.

He has been the ‘honorary’ Veterinarian for the ‘Donkey Rescue With Heart’ (welfare group) since 1978 and still travels to Maitland routinely to attend to their rescued and injured donkeys.
