About Monday Nightingales Choir

We are a community choir, open to all abilities, based in Sydney Australia.

Monday Nightingales Choir Description

The Monday Nightingales choir was started in April 2013 with a membership of 12 singers. Most had been students at The Music Practice in Surrey Hills, a place where the inspired Gillian Bonham ran her famous Tone Deaf Clinic. In the course of ten weeks, Gillian would transform nervous would-be singers into a group confident enough to sing at a concert.

When the Music Practice closed in December 2012 some of us wanted to keep on singing as a group. One of us approached the very talented Tanya Christensen to see if she was interested in leading us, and luckily, she agreed.
Tanya had been a teacher at the Music Practice and many of us had seen her brilliant ability to inspire and encourage singers of all levels.

Today the choir is made up of young adults and the young at heart who relish the fun of singing together. We have heaps of enthusiasm and daring and we're striving for polish and precision as we rehearse a varied program for two concerts each year. Each week attracts between 50 and 60 singers to rehearsal and we welcome new members regularly.
