Pretty decent fish and chips shop. Great for simple meal and there are places to sit outside and enjoy the waterfront

Wait can be long but food is cooked to order. Really is a testimony to its popularity.

I got the chicken nugget and chips meal with two scallops, 12$.

The price was not too bad, but I wouldn't call it cheap. The two scallops I got were the tinieft I've ever seen and were 1$ each! About 50c more than anywhere else for half the size. The chips had nowhere near enough salt on them, were pretty plain and not at all crispy. Chicken nuggets were ok.

Also, no burgers on the menu? What kind of half rate fish and chip shop is this?

You really need to work on staff "sense of urgency"; the amount of oil so therefore the batter is way too thick and so leaves a bad taste afterwards. We are not in the 1980's, there's more competition out there now. Fish tastes nice though. Chips were not the nicest I've had. Maybe change the brand? After reading all the reviews something needs to change to stay in business not just a renovation.

Had to wait over an hour on a Sunday lunchtime. I think they were cooking each order one by one even though queues were out the door. Salmon was over cooked with skin removed. Chili squid was terrible, looked and tasted like it was from the freezer section at Coles. What they called 'cod' had batter that was nauseatingly thick, a real grease bomb. Chips were another low point, depressingly they use frozen McCain. Posting this as a warning to those who might think a long queue means it's good. It's not, it's awful.

The use of the term fish and chips is a bit of a stretch. 80% ultra greasy batter is closer to the mark. I have been going here for years and the quality has continued to fall. Best to give them a wide berth. Darryn's seafood at Wamberal is a far better choice.

Family fish and chipper set by the harbour. Had a lovely grilled Barramundi here, unfortunately the fish cake contained no detectable fish and the potato scallop was the oiliest thing I'd ever seen. The wait for food was almost half an hour, which goes to show how popular the place is with locals.

My Husband and I visited today and ordered a calamari with chips and a fish with chips. The fish was nice, but was not enough to save the rest of the meal. The calamari was the kind you get from woolies or coles and the chips were dry and very over cooked. The whole meal was very oily. We wanted to give the place a go as it is so close, but seriously the best part of my meal was the coke I had with it.

We are very happy with Montis Ashore as we get the fish cocktails and chips just the right amount for us.We have been coming here for years and the girls serving are very pleasant. The best fish and chips on the coast. Keep up the good work.Liz and John

Super friendly phone call with monti himself also cooked up some delicious chips

User

Generously sized kids fish and chips but food is always given wrapped in paper for take away even though you were going to dine in!

User

Staff were friendly and our presence was acknowledged promptly (goes a long way to making a customer feel valued). The fish and chips offerings are basic but are good quality, will go back.

Fish and chips at Monties. What can you say? Consistently great over a very long time.
