There was an older lady who would visit our school, a former student of the school and students were allowed time out of class to sit with her as she taught us to crochet (my how times have changed! ). She would have been aged 90 or more at the time, and her hands shook constantly but she was an excellent teacher! Her name was Mrs Ainsworth and she is indeed the inspiration behind the name of my store. After that brief introduction to the craft, it was a good 25 years or more before I again picked up a hook and yarn and attempted to remember what Mrs Ainsworth had taught me all those years ago. It was funny how it started to come back, and wasn't long before I was creating simple but beautiful handmade accessories and homewares for family and friends. I am so excited to now be offing some items for sale on Etsy. I practise my craft when and where I can in between a full time job and caring for my family. Everything is handmade by me and everything is made from the heart! In today's world of fast fashion and excess consumption I think it's a beautiful thing to choose to purchase something that took time to make and was created by someone who really cares about what they are doing.
