The NSW south coast, there are great surfing, swimming, walking, camping and fishing opportunities.

Murramarang National Park Description

Murramarang is a national park in New South Wales, Australia, 206km southwest of Sydney. It follows the coastline from Long Beach north to Merry Beach near Ulladulla. It is surrounded by three state forests, Kioloa, South Brooman, and Benandarrah. The park forms part of the Ulladulla to Merimbula Important Bird Area, identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance for swift parrots. Access and facilitiesThere are several entrances to the park off the Princes Highway. There are two major entrances, at the northern end via Bawly Point and Merry Beach and in the southern section off the highway near East Lynne to Pebbly Beach and Durras North. Roads in the park are generally unsealed. A campground is located just in the bush behind the beach. Attractions Pebbly Beach, one of the park's major attractions, lies between two headlands and forms a sand beach used for bathing and surfing, followed by hilly grassland towards the bush. Kangaroos graze close to the beach. Birds, including parrots are plentiful. Goannas live in the area. Walks and diving along the headlands. Tidal rock pools. Wasp Head, Depot, Pebbly and Merry Beaches are popular surfing spots. These beaches also include numerous walking trails. Myrtle Beach is a popular beach for nudists. Durras Mountain includes a steep but enjoyable hiking trail. Murramarang Aboriginal Area is located in the northern region of the park and it encompasses the largest midden on the south coast.

We've travelled twice from Queensland to holiday at Pebbly Beach in the Murramarang National Park.......and we will definatly be doing it again and again. We love the place.

Amazing park and gorgeous beaches. You will often find yourself the only one on the beach. Only wish the parks would allow responsable dog owners their pets but do understand.

Our favourite place to camp down the coast. Super quiet compared to other nearby spots

User

My favourite coastal national park in NSW. Gorgeous quiet beaches with soft sand and lovely dark rock platforms. Perfect for walking along the coast.

An amazing little national park, once heavily logged for it's superb timber. Do visit Pebbly Beach, the contrast to the more regular sandy beaches is significant. Also visit Depot Bay and check out the 'beach wallabies' which are Swampies that like to hang out and munch on the grasses near the sand. A fantastic rock platform is exposed during low tide.

I have spent a lot of time in this park over the years and it is a great location for fishing, surfing and enjoying nature. Good 1 day walks but it is not really big enough for multiday hikes. Park rangers are great and very helpful. You can always find a secluded spot to relax.

Claims to be a resort but isn't. Lovely setting though. Maybe that's how they get away with charging the GDP of a small African nation for an overnight stay.

There is so much natural beauty here with abundant wildlife and secluded beaches. There are hardly any people around compared to must of the places to the north. The people at a beach I visited were mainly nude.

User

Pigeon House Mountain trek worth the climb. Great staircase to the summit.

User

lots of wildlife and well kept nature. The beach was fantastic

User

Lovely beaches but surf a bit of a mess. Lots of kangaroos and lovely bushwalking to be done. Worth a visit!
