About Music Teachers' Association Of Nsw

The Music Teachers’ Association was formed in 1912

The Association is administered by a Council of skilled music professionals and aims to promote the study, practice and knowledge of music in New South Wales. It also aims to support and protect the character, status and common interests of music teachers in NSW, whilst working to raise the status of the private music teacher.

Membership of the Association is available in various categories and the MTA provides a referral service for members of the public seeking a private music teacher.

One of the major functions of the Association is the Accreditation of private music teachers in NSW of which the MTA is the only official accrediting body in NSW Whilst membership of the MTA is not a condition of accreditation, it is hoped that all accredited teachers would wish to be part of this vital professional body.

The Association holds regular professional development workshops and seminars for teachers, scholarships for students and Junior Music Festivals to encourage young performers.
