My name is Melanda and I am a postpartum doula. I have 4 beautiful children and I decided to start this business because I know personally how important it is to have support in the very early stages of becoming a mother. I feel very passionately about the lack of support for new mums in the first 6 weeks of baby being born and with postnatal depression at an all time high, I truely believe one of the major factors to this is there not being enough s...upport for new mums.
I want to change this! As a postpartum doula my main focus will be supporting mums with one-on-one in-house visits which consist of the following: • Support for physical and emotional recovery from birth • Emotional adjustment to your new role • Bonding and breastfeeding support • Helping to understand your baby • Building confidence in your parenting style and skill • Sleep and rest between feeds • Household organisation • Meal preparation • Baby massage instruction • Managing visitors
BUT everyday is different, so in saying all this, it will totally depend on mum and baby and what they specifically need or want help with. I’m so excited to be able to really do what I absolutely love and that’s to make a difference and help in anyway I can. So I look forward to getting out there and doing this work I feel so strongly about.
