Lazy, inexperienced, careless.

Came in via emergency with burst appendix, the wait wasn't too long (20 mins). They operated on me and a week later they sent be home with no antibiotics. This was an elementary mistake on their behalf as a week later I had developed a litre of Pleural Effusion in my right lung. I overhead everyone who had an appendectomy also got this post op.

Came back through emergency on Friday, was told there were multiple teams who could drain it that day. 3 days later and none of the teams have the time. The Respiratory team finally takes me to get drained. The room is filled of interns, they miss the first go so try again and only get 50ml out of 1L. They lied on the discharge report and said they drained all of it and sent me home on antibiotics.

I return a week later with a semi collapsed lung and 1L still in there. When we complained they said the respiratory team took 500ml out which really makes me want to sue them.

The nurses stand around and chat at their desk, take an average of 30mins to respond to your buzzer and don't attend to you if you're not on their patient list. There is a lot of politics between surgeons and nurses which makes me uncomfortable.

I give them a poor rating mainly for;
- lack of knowledge/expertise
- lying on medical records
- treating me like a tennis ball
- unmotivated nurses
- poor heigeine

My wife had our first child at Nepean and we were impressed with the service overall. Lots of training and support from many nurses and midwives. One concern was the labour guidance which contracted the anti-natal classes we had. Firstly, we were to,d if needing pain relief from the gas, you should have it between contractions so it has time to take effect when the contraction occurs. During labour we were told the opposition. Secondly, we were told to control the pushing to prevent tearing but in labour my wife was told to push when ever she like and as such ended up with 5 stitches.

Sadly though I could only give 4 stars due to the service of one African nurse when our baby was just one day old.I was disgusted, shocked and angry to hear from my wife that our newborn baby was shaken by this nurse, more specifically shook our baby girl's head continuously for up to 30 seconds. Even a child knows not to shake a baby's head so I found this hard to understand. Please be very aware of who holds your baby and as I said, this nurse was wearing a light blue coloured uniform and was dark skinned and of African appearance. Be warned!!! We now await several years to know whether any brain damage occurred in this brief 30 seconds. Seriously though, we spent 9 months prot ting our little one and within moments a nurse does this.

This hospital provides an appallingly bad service in its Emergency Department with a failure to carry out proper triage. I am with my 84 year old mother-in-law sent here by her GP with signs of a suspected heart attack but none of the medical staff regard this as particularly urgent. Perhaps if she has another in the waiting room it will be taken seriously. Studies show Triage should be carried out by the most experienced and qualified personnel, when in fact it is usually the exact opposite.

went into a few weeks ago as my boyfriend tore his ear for the second time playing footy. was waiting in emergency from 5pm, after watching about 50 people go in before us at about 1am we were finally called in. the NUM seemed tired but she was friendly, just really straight to the point. we had to see a plastic surgeon to stitch his ear and the plastic surgeon was amazing !! despite how late it was he was so kind and funny. cleanest stitch, his ear has healed so well now too.

Really disappointing. . It isn't the nurses or staffs fault it is the management .. if you complain they say please call the government we need more money. More money won't fix things .. there was dry blood on a SURGICAL WARDS floor for 3 days when they supposedly mop every day .. 3rd world countries with NOTHING could teach us alot. I think having NUM is a waste of money for a start there is another 10 nurses there for some red head to stand around and joke with his staff. For a surgery that i went into hospital for that wasnt my fault it was caused by in competent medical staff trying to rush through patients .. you people have a duty of care .. a duty of care

You ppl giving 5 star are seriously kidding yourself....waiting for kidney stone be removed and get stuffed around by putting a stent in when not needed then for a date to be finalized for lazer of kidney stone one said takes 2 days now been told can take over 2 months just for a date to be set...yehhh load of crap all the way.Going to another hospital were they don't do 3 to 4 operations just to line there pockets of money while you suffer in pain for months....pathetic hospital and they deserve bad reviews for poor service 🖕

A family member went in for surgery (prostate cancer removal) the nurses that looked after his ward were not experienced enough; they lost track of what medication they gave to him (they nearly gave him a double dose because 'another' nurse didn't write it in the book).

After leaving the hospital he experienced severe pain in the groin area every time he needed to urinate. After speaking to our local GP we were referred to the Hawkesbury hospital. Hawkesbury was able to identify that the bag was not correctly attached to his leg causing a lot of strain on the tube that lead to his bladder. A nurse then identified that the catheter was blocked causing the build up of pain before urination.

We contacted Nepean Hospital and we were treated with the upmost disrespect. We asked if we could tell them the symptoms/issues over the phone and if they can recommend if we should come in or leave it until the next appointment, the person then rudely told us that they cannot provide confidential information over the phone without the persons consent. Before we could even say anything she hung up the phone.

Had my antenal appointments here and had my baby here. Great nurses and my midwife was so informative and supportive of my decision to have baby naturally.
