Neringla Meat & Vegetables

About Neringla Meat & Vegetables

'Neringla' has been a family business since 1923. That makes four generations of 'Raynolds' families farming cattle, sheep and vegetables.

The farm is now run by Peter and Anja Raynolds. Peter grew up at Neringla until he was three and came back after school when he was 19. He has worked there since with a few little breaks of travelling. Anja is originally from Germany and came to Australia in October 2016 after studying nursing in Germany. She always wanted to live on a farm and was driven towards a life more calm and simple.

On 2000 acres, you can find a vegetable garden, not treated with any chemicals.

200 beef cows are grazing freely and happily with their calfs. The cows are rotated on the different paddocks so that the grass can recover for up to 9 months and the ground is not left bare and unhealthy. We are not using chemicals to fight the weeds which the cows do not eat.

We sell the meat of our cows directly to you, our costumers, because we ourselves would like to now where our food is coming from. We want to know, if they look healthy and happy and how them and the environment they are living on is treated. We don't want to make them go in a truck on a long trip to the arbatoir, knowing what they are facing.

Our animals are home killed and processed at the local butcher.

We offer the farmhouse and the little hut next door for Airbnb accomodation, a great way to relax and learn for city people, tourists or anyone interested in nature, agriculture and fitness. There are hiking tracks on the farm property.

We rent out the old nostalgic shearing shed and the garden paddock as a wedding venue. Our own wedding there in February 2017 inspired us. The atmosphere was breathtaking for us and our guests.

What motivates us is to show that in nowadays society it is still possible to live a life without the unhealthy variety of stress. Also we want to pass on the knowledge of how to grow your own food or to work to get it from or of an animal. We believe that this is the work we are designed to do. We appreciate our food. We also want to surprise you that even today it is not difficult to grow your own food, it only feels like it when you are living in a city because it is easy to lose touch when everything seems to have its origin in a shop rather than in dirt. We figured that the latter is way more interesting and challenging.
