About New South Wales Indigenous Chamber Of Commerce
The NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) is the Peak body for Aboriginal Business in NSW and a powerful voice for the needs of Aboriginal Entrepreneurs, Business owners and Enterprising Communities.
New South Wales Indigenous Chamber Of Commerce Description
The NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce is the Peak Representative Body for Indigenous businesses across NSW, providing a Corporate forum to members where they can access a wealth of knowledge and opportunities. It allows members to connect with other Indigenous business owners across NSW. NSWICCs' members value the promotion of business amongst them, networking opportunities, skills development and training.
The NSWICC educates members on available government programs and initiatives that assist Indigenous businesses, including Indigenous Opportunities Policy (IOP) and Supply Nation (formerly AIMSC).
Trade amongst the NSWICC network is encouraged and supported. For contracts awarded to the Chamber, sub contracting opportunities are available to NSWICC members. While contract work to other members and trade amongst members is a core function of the network.
NSWICCs service provision provides a structured path to self-determination for the Indigenous community. NSWICCs' business mentoring, support and educational services enables members to:
Capitalise on the new and expanding procurement opportunities for Indigenous businesses;
Assist in the achievement of financial independence; and
Access to tools for effective negotiation with other businesses and corporate organisations.
NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce membership provides a unique opportunity for Indigenous businesses to take steps towards closing the gap.

Misty Jenkins leads her own immunotherapy lab searching for a cure for cancer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.
She was the first Indigenous Australian to attend Oxford and Cambridge Universities as a postdoctoral research fellow. She’s worked with Nobel Laureates and has a PhD in microbiology and immunology.
But aside from all her research success, Misty’s also an advocate and role model for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who she hopes to inspire into ...STEM careers.
STEM has always been a part of Misty’s world, even before she’d heard of it.

Do you know the next Australian of the year?
Fortunately, someone recognised Dion’s efforts to make a positive impact – not only on his community but also on the cultural health of the whole country – and nominated him for the prestigious award.
Now it is once again time to nominate. These Awards recognise Australians who are great at what they do, are contributing to Australian society and inspiring those around them. They could be quiet achievers, community members, leaders... in their field of work, household names or unknown heroes. Unless you nominate them though, they may never get the recognition they deserve. It only takes one nomination to be in the running for one of the four Australian of the Year Awards and it could come from a friend, family member or even a stranger.
Nominations for 2019 Australian of the Year Awards close at midnight on 31st July 2018. So visit australianoftheyear.org.au and nominate today.

WHEN Ben Isaacs and Ryan Fraser heard about the opportunity to join mining giant Peabody as indigenous trainees, they jumped at the chance.
The pair, who are now well progressed in their traineeships, are part of Peabody's Traditional Owner trainee cohort which will celebrate a 100 per cent retention rate as part of NAIDOC Week.
Based at the company's Moorvale mine near Moranbah, Mr Isaacs and Mr Fraser will transition to full-time operators later this year as the resource sector celebrates a 250 per cent increase in indigenous employment since 2006.
