Newcastle & District Nursing Service

The Newcastle & District Nursing Service was established by Sr. Jan Stevens who saw the need for a service to compliment the over-extended health system at the time.

NDNS was the first private nursing service established in the Hunter region. The business has grown sucessfully over the last 20 years. Predominately, NDNS services the veteran communtity of Newcastle, however our services of wound care, pallative care, in-home respite, domestic assistance, medication assistance, post-operative care, and personal hygiene assistance is available to many in the community. NDNS is a provider for HACC- Home and Community Care, The Department of Veteran Affairs , The Dust and Disease Board, Insurance Companies, Catholic Community Services and we are listed on the panel of providers for Home Care Service of N. S. W. NDNS also assists other service providers in the delivery of their service delegations including, Life without Barriers, Paraquad Association, Mercy Care and Novacare. I believe our success is attributed to our fantastic team. We have a very high staff retention, enhancing job satisfaction through ongoing support and mentoring. NDNS has a link with ET Australia. Managers lead and inspire the team to continually upskill in clinical and interpersonal skills, enabling staff to deal with the difficult aspects of ageing and family death. The team is dedicated in meeting the needs of our clients with the ultimate outcome allowing them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, promoting independence and safety. Assesment, flexibility and coordination of services gives continuity of care to clients from highly trained staff resulting in excellent service deivery.
