On 5/2/2017 I took delivery of a brand new Mazda CX3 from Newcastle Mazda. Unfortunately Newcastle Mazda failed to disclose to me that my car had already sustained damage to the bonnet and been repaired.
I was thankfully alerted to this fact, when 2 weeks after delivery I took my car to a well renowned panel shop to ask for advice. I had complained to Newcastle Mazda about a minor dent (not major dents, as the dealer/principal of Newcastle Mazda stated) on the side of the left mudguard. Newcastle Mazda suggested the dent may have been caused by bird poo!!( a big eagle). Within minutes of inspecting my car the panel shop pointed out that the bonnet had been resprayed, showed me the spray gun tracks and numerous minor inclusions on the bonnet. Further investigation showed a dent and scratches under the bonnet. OMG!!
Sales Manager of Newcastle Mazda disputed this advice and arrogantly demanded a written report. I paid for and obtained a Motor Vehicle Inspection report from NRMA (which was later reimbursed by Newcastle Mazda). The report clearly showed that the bonnet had sustained damage, been removed, repaired, resprayed, badly & put back on my car and sold to me as a new car. No argument from sales manager this time, my bonnet was exchanged with a factory sprayed bonnet from another new Mazda CX3, as I had stipulated that I wanted a factory sprayed bonnet and not a resprayed bonnet from them. The dent was also grudgingly repaired. I was later offered a free 10,000 km service which I declined on principal. Contrary to the dealer/principal's statement to NSW Fair Trading, Newcastle Mazda have never apologised for selling me a new car that had already been damaged & repaired, Mazda Australia apologised on Newcastle Mazda's behalf after I had made a complaint to them. Also I took delivery of my car on a SUNDAY! Newcastle Mazda's service department is closed on Sundays, NO staff. So no "phantom" service inspector inspecting my car, ( as was also stated by dealer/principal of Newcastle Mazda), which was gift wrapped in ribbons and balloons to just prior to sales girl exchanging my plates & driving the car out of the showroom for me. It was also stated by the dealer/principal that his inspectors would not have missed noticing the major dents (that was actually one minor dent) when they inspected my car which must have been prior to delivery date, if at all. So WHY if the inspectors are competent and professional did they not notice and report the very obvious, ( to a competent eye), blatant, defective bonnet???Certainly not a minor paint blemish as stated by Mazda's dealer/principal. The panel shop and NRMA inspector noticed the defective bonnet within minutes of inspecting my car. It's a shame the pleasure of buying a new car was marred by Newcastle Mazda's arrogance and deceit, causing me many sleepless nights and undue stress. It takes the old adage of never trust a car salesperson/dealer to a new level. If you have purchased a new Mazda CX3 since 5/2/ 2017, you may want to have the bonnet checked as it just may be "sporting" the defective bonnet that was exchanged from my car.

Sales staff are the best. Not pushy, but excellent. Buy your car here. But go elsewhere for service. 6+ hours for a standard service, sat waiting for an hour and a half looking at my car sitting there, obviously finished, couldn't pay and leave as they "hadn't done the paperwork"! Had to take a day off from my job, meaning no pay, to spend half of it sitting looking at my car doing nothing. Staff were grumpy, only perked up when sales staff passed through, were polite, just, but not friendly. Won't be back here again. Much as I like the sales staff, will probably go elsewhere for my next car just because of the service and service staff.

I have bought 3 cars from this dealership now and continue to use the service department on a regular basis.
I have always found the staff to be very pleasant and professional.
Whilst in for service I usually borrow a loan car as I work out of town. However I have also used the courtesy bus to go to Charlestown shopping centre. The courtesy bus driver is very friendly and accommodating, the customer lounge is comfortable and relaxing and the free coffee very appreciated ! It all helps make an otherwise boring and time consuming necessity a very positive experience... Thank you
