Applications for the Glorias Fellowship for graduate or early-career actors and directors closes 21 September. The fellowship provides an opportunity for overseas travel to undertake learning, either through formal courses of study or self-devised programs of observation and secondment. Our third year BFA (Costume) students presented a stunning showcase of their Major Research Projects yesterday which included the impact of technology on floral textile design, transformative costumes onstage, the social history of the shepherdess hat, Russian royal attire and how magnets embedded in fabric can create movement.

We are excited to embrace the world of musical theatre with the launch of a partnership for the development of 'Starstruck', the 1980s film directed by Gillian Armstrong, into a stage musical. ‘What an opportunity for us – we only have to look around this room to see the amazing entrepreneurial spirit that NIDA has been famous for and the potential for an astonishing future in musical theatre,’ said NIDA Director/CEO Kate Cherry at the launch event.

Our second year BFA (Design for Performance) students presented their Paper Costumes Project yesterday, inspired by the ghosts of Shakespeare... Can you believe these costumes are made entirely out of paper?! These creepy characters were brought to life with the help of our talented VET Specialist Make-up students.

Our third year Props students presented their Masterworks yesterday including wearable props, mimicking water for stop-motion animation, swords with special effects, wooden sculptures, brushes for performance art, painting replica marble finishings and collapsible props.

We were so lucky to have NIDA alumna and 'Game of Thrones' Production Designer Deborah Riley join us last night to talk about creating the visual world of 'Game of Thrones'.
