Northern Rivers Animal Services Inc - Nras Description

NORTHERN RIVERS ANIMAL SERVICES is a self funded, non profit, volunteer run registered charity that was started in October 2001 to provide care for and re home the abandoned, abused, lost and unwanted cats and dogs in our region.
NRAS are located in the Northern Rivers Region, 20 minutes south of Byron Bay NSW.
We cover and take in animals from Casino, Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay, Bangalow and surrounding areas. We work with local council pounds and bring into care animals who are on death row and need our help.
At the moment we have no shelter so all animals are cared for by dedicated volunteer carers in their own home. But our own shelter is not far way.

Aims of the NRAS
● Raise the value of cats and dogs in society so that the intrinsic needs of each are recognised, respected and met.

● Find a positive solution for unowned cats.

● Improve humans’ attitudes towards cats and dogs through education.

● Prevent the birth of unwanted kittens and puppies.

● Find safe and happy homes with responsible owners for as many abandoned cats and dogs as possible.

● Achieve zero euthanasia rates of all healthy & treatable cats and dogs.
