Northern Rivers Railway Action Group Description

The Northern Rivers Railway Action Group is a community group formed to promote the early return of train services to the Casino to Murwillumbah Railway in North-Eastern NSW.
The objective is to have diesel railcars operating a frequent commuter train service from Casino to Murwillumbah with linked bus services to the off-line communities.
The group is proposing a staged reopening of the line, with the first section being Lismore to Casino, where the track is in relatively good condition.
This will enable the immediate return of the XPT service to Lismore and the introduction of a fast diesel railcar service from Lismore to Brisbane via Casino and Kyogle with 2 return services each day.
The reintroduction of train services will create many new skilled railway jobs for the region.
