International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on May 12 each year (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth).
We’d like to acknowledge the extraordinary work of our nursing staff and to thank them for the invaluable contribution they make to the health and wellbeing of our community.

Today we celebrate all our Norwest Private Hospital Nurses. Nurses change and save lives. Nursing as a profession is more than a career, it's a calling that requires dedication, education and remarkable clinical skills. Over time, the face of nursing care has changed, along with improved knowledge of the human body and healing. What endures through the ages is the compassion and care of nurses. To paraphrase Maya Angelou in the context of nursing "Whilst our patients may over time forget what you said, and the specific things you did, they never forget how you made them feel." To all Norwest Private Hospital Nurses, thank you for your professionalism and your care.

I am currently in the maternity ward after having an emergency c-section on Tuesday 10.10.17 where my first born was safely delivered. Firstly I must say that I chose this hospital based on friends experiences and the obstetrician. I love my obstetrician and was looking forward to having our baby here.

Sadly although there are some positive things out of my stay here, the majority was negative and as a result impacted on my feelings about the birth and care of my newborn and myself.

The biggest problem I found is nursing staff forgetting or not giving you meds for one reason or another.

After having my c-section i was placed on heavy duty pain management plan so that I would be discharged today all going well. However, my pain management was never controlled and this has delayed my recovery.

Basically I have had nurses forget to give me scheduled pain relief meds and others who disagree with the drs instructions and flat out refused to give it. Among many other negative experiences.

After this experience I don’t think I would elect to come back here again regardless of the facilities and my preferred specialists working from here.

Went to the ER - amazing, caring staff, and despite needing a battery of tests, was out of there in just under 3hrs. I didn't even feel like I was at an ER - it was clean, low stress, and I was really listened to. I'm so happy I got to go to this place.

The hospital facilities seems good, however like many private hospitals the parking spaces are terribly expensive.

LEGAL OBLIGATIONS IGNORED. CONSENT VIOLATED.

The hospital was adamant they had to do the insurance check for me and advised my treatment was covered by my health insurance. I asked so many times before the treatment if it was covered and they told me each time it was. I paid my excess and that was that.... Months later I received two invoices for their services, one of which even states 'EXCESS'. Upon calling I've been told they thought it was covered but its actually not which is why I've been sent the bill. My health insurance has proved that they did not complete the checks which would have clearly told them it was not covered. I did not give financial consent prior to the treatment for these amounts which is a direct violation of their legal obligations.

Its been two weeks of disputing so far....

I wish someone had warned me of their incompetence, hopefully it's not too late for others. Good luck.

The worst experience ever. Went to the emergency department.... paid $375 to wait an hour (I thought is a private hospital and high standards). Even once in all the procedures took very long time. At the end we got a prescription for a medication which is no longer on the market in NSW for a year now ... and having problems at the pharmacy to get an alternative medicine because the emergency doctors wouldn't give the pharmacy an indication of an alternative medicine without seeing him. And we spent 7 hours in emergency that day. A BIG LETDOWN!!!

Hospital itself is modern and new. Wife has been in twice for several days for surgery and staff where slow to attend rooms and tried to convince her she could go home even tho she could not even move. Had better experience in a public hospital as a private patient.

Review for a maternity stay. Poor experience. No major blunder, just a poor level of care. Midwifes are a mix of really good and not so good and unfriendly. Would not visit this hospital again for any type of service.

User

Excellent experience overall. Efficient and caring nursing staff, good facilities and friendly atmosphere.

Back to 2012 when my daughter was born in this hospital it wasn't too bad although the midwife did not do very good job and the aircon was not warm enough. I have been to the emergency last year which was not too bad, doctor was professional and the service was ok. A month ago i went to the emergency again due to illness and i was shocked how can a private hospital's standard fall down like this --- all the nurses with a unfriendly face and did not do much jobs to patient. Instead they ask the trainees from elsewhere to do most of jobs. I was lying on the bed for about 40 mins and just listened to the doctor talked with nurses about his
holiday fun, full of noise and laugh, and the patient just been ignored. After the doctor finished his holiday talking he came to me and asked a few questions, then gave me the antibiotic, and did blood test and CT scan. I was discharged after a few hours and been told just follow up the check result with my GP. Two weeks later, i went to see GP and he did not get any information from the hospital. there was totally no record about my case. In addition, i received a email said i got the blood test bill unpaid and overdue but i did not received any bill before. i called the lab and they said the bill was sent 2 weeks a ago to my old address ---OMG, i did update the address when i filled up the form they gave me. What a systematical mess and what a nasty management ! I have no word of this hospital. what i can do is that never go there again. You just waste your money and time in there.
