Savusavu Breaks All
The Savusavu Premier side claimed victory at the Australia Fiji Football Association (AFFA) BOG at Edensor Park, Fairfield in NSW yesterday.
... The speed machines were dressed in an amazing orange outfit and displayed skill-full football.
The BOG Giants defeated an equally talented Dreketi side. The WestAir/UBN sponsored Dreketi managed to pull 1 back but run out of time to capitalise on opportunities.
Savusavu won the grand final with 4 goals to 1.
In the Masters Division of the AFFA BOG 2016, it was the Man in Black that surprised an outstanding Veteran Suva Side with 5 goals to nil.
Suva Masters were seen helpless and as BA continued it's fearful campaign at the grand final.

Fiji Football Sanctions Australian Fijian Players for Pacific Cup
The Fiji Football Association has directed that all Australian players in the upcoming Pacific Cup must not participate in any locally organised tournaments that are in parallel competition with its affiliate body in Australia, AFFA.
... According to a media press release earlier this evening, the Fiji Football Association has confirmed to the Australia Fiji Football Association (AFFA), that any player participating in a parallel tournament to AFFA (Such as FASA), this weekend, will not be allowed to play in the upcoming 2016 Pacific Cup.
The Pacific Cup is scheduled to be held in late November at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, Fiji.
The Pacific Cup is hosted by the Fiji Football Association and it's member affiliates in Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada participate with local Fiji Teams.
It is understood, that AFFA directives will be made to all its affiliates and members as per the sanction placed by the Fiji Football Association.
The AFFA Mr. Mobile Sponsored Battle of the Gaints (BOG) will be played this weekend at the Sydney United Complex at Edensor Park, Fairfield from Saturday 10th of September.
The Semi finals and the grand final will be held on Sunday 11th of September, 2016.
In Pool A, Dreketi, Savusavu and Suva will battle in the Premier division, while in Pool B, BA, Labasa and Lautoka will take the field.
In the Masters category, Navua, Suva, Savusavu and Ba will battle it out.
In the first match, Savusavu will meet Dreketi in the Premiier division, while the much anticipated match of the day will be in the Veterans division between Savusavu Masters and BA Masters.

Lautoka wins BOG title after lapse of 31 years
Lautoka has won the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants title after a lapse of 31 years. A goal each from Mohammed Shazeel and Cyrus Singh in extra time sealed the victory against Labasa.
... The two youngsters couldn’t hold back their emotions as they registered their first title with the blues. Shazeel says his father called him earlier today and demanded a goal as his Father’s Day gift. “This was my first win. I am very happy and very excited.
I wanted to dedictae this win to all the fathers in Lautoka, especially my father. he called me early in the morning and told me that it will be his biggest Father’s Day gift if I scored a goal today.” Singh thanked his family members for the support. “It is all for the fans of Lautoka. For my mom and dad at home and my sister who has always supported me.” Coach Anjinesh Prasad who led the team to his first tournament says the message to the players was clear from day one. “Just stick to the game plan.
You should know what you mare doing, support each other, keep the communication going and the result will be on our side.” Labasa captain Taniela Waqa says they lost to a better team.
“We knew it was going to be a tough final with all due respect to Lautoka. We deserved to be here and we gave a good showdown in the final.We could not capitalize on our opportunities and that’s football. Congratulations to Lautoka for the win.”
The Blues received $15,000 for the win while Labasa walked away with $6000. The player of the tournament went to Lautoka’s Zibraz Saheb with Shazeel taking out the player of the final award.
The top goal scorers were Gabrieli Mataisuva and Ravinesh Karan Singh with five goals each. The golden glove award went to Labasa’s Akuila Mataisuva with team mate Ratu Anare scooping the new find of the tournament reward.

Former detectives Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Jamie Gao.
Rogerson, 75, and McNamara, 57, were found guilty of murdering Mr Gao, 20, during a drug deal at a Padstow storage facility on May 20, 2014 and dumping his body in waters off Cronulla the next day.

Sports Fiji U23 through to Rio Olympics
The Vodafone Fiji Under 23 football side celebrate after qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
... The Vodafone Fiji Under-23 football side has qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
This as the side beat Vanuatu in the final, 4-3 on penalty kicks in the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea last night.
Fiji skipper, Jale Dreloa slotted in the winning penalty.
Tony Tuivuna, Kolinio Sivoki and Iosefo Verevou all scored for Fiji, while Napolioni Qasevakatini and Garish Prasad missed for Fiji. It is another history for Fiji as football will for the first time feature in the Olympics.
Meanwhile, in rugby league, Fiji lost the bronze medal play-offs to Tonga, 16-14.
In the men’s basketball final, Fiji lost 78-61 to Guam, to settle for the silver medal.
Fiji now has 14 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze to remain in fifth spot on the medal tally.
PNG still leads with 36 gold, 23 silver and 22 bronze, followed by New Caledonia with 23 gold, 23 silver and 18 bronze.
Tahiti is in third spot with 23 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze followed by Samoa with 18 gold, 18 silver and 1 bronze.
