These people are useless. After waiting on hold for 1 hour, you get put through to a teenage kid who doesn't even understand the Fair Trading laws himself. Go on the website they say. Everything is on the website.
What you have on the website is pages and pages and pages of never ending bureaucracy and drivel. Every thing, except what you are looking for.
Every government department is the same without exception. Useless mindless bureaucrats who don't know and don't care. Just as long as they can get a nice hot coffee for morning tea. That's all they really care about.

None of the departments are aware of what the other do! I'm constantly transferred around the place (placed on hold again each time for lengthy amounts of time), finally about 30 minutes later I might reach the correct person who then says they cannot assist with the query. This, I assume, is partly because the menu options are suitable to probably 5% of callers and the lack of knowledge across the whole organisation. This has happened on multiple occasions and seems there is not much Fair Trading can assist with, except wasting time. Always a frustrating experience.

Totally hopeless. Wasted an entire morning trying to get a replacement licence that was never sent out. Can't even even call in due to 'technical difficulties'. Online form won't let me submit. What the hell are we supposed to do?

What a TOOTHLESS TIGER this department is. Even with 16 pages of evidence and photographs you still believed the lying, cheating retailer and did nothing to help me as the consumer. Why on earth do you say you are there to protect the consumer? You are a typical governmental waste of space. You should be ashamed of yourself! I would like to get a petition in action to get this department closed down. It is a waste of taxpayers money.

I have mixed reviews. I find that as a consumer if you get Fair Trading involved in any business matter, they're great! I have had one contractor take me, (the consumer) to FT when I refused to pay for a job he said he'd done and when they rang me to resolve the problem, I demanded that they get him to take me to a median, please... because I wanted to expose him for trying to rip me (and probably others) off!

Whenever I have a strata matter, they are always polite, but give conflicting information. I have challenged them about this and they say well, it depends on what information you give them. If you don't give them all the information, then you don't get the most accurate advice. I always give the same information (always the same scenario). I find that you have to ring 4 or 5 times to take the average information as being correct. If I ran FT I would have one person (dept)dedicated to one section of strata law, (protocol for meetings etc) another for repairs and maintenance etc. One person cannot know ALL the answers! If there are too many calls with similar questions, dedicate more people to that section and less on another.

Typical state government. They haven't updated their website. They are now located at the western end of Argyle Street, Parramatta.

No customer service skills. They get a star because I got my answers but they are almost the rudest customer service people I have dealt with short of a local who answers the phone with cussing. I must say I don't expect any more of a government service but c'mon.......

Shocking customer service.
I have never written a bad review but i had to express how frustrated i was, because i was trying to renew my Real Estate license and i had called up 3 times to simply change my contact details and it took over 2 months and speaking to numerous people and my license almost expiring on the last day, to get the issue resolved.
