Mining is critical to the economy of NSW. Our sector provides NSW’s most valuable exports and around one-quarter of total NSW exports by value.

There are thousands of people across NSW who work in mining and depend on a strong mining industry for their livelihoods.

Our mining companies directly spend around $10 billion in NSW each year, underpinning the economic strength of many regional communities, and we also provide the coal used to generate over 80 per cent of the electricity needs of NSW households and businesses.
