Nsw Rfs - Lower Hunter Communications Brigade Description

The Rural Fire Service Communications brigade’s volunteers handle radio, telephone and other electronic communications during rostered weekend and weekday shifts all year and are on call for day and night shifts during fire season (October – April).
It is an important job needing maturity, responsibility and confidentiality.

• Radio Operators
• Logging & Data Entry
• Aviation Support
• Mapping /GIS
• Incident Management Team Roles
• Administrative Support


Areas of Responsibility

Since the Re-zoning, Lower Hunter Communications Brigade is now responsible for radio communications for Four Local Government Areas (LGA) known as Lower Hunter. These areas are;

• Cessnock
• Maitland
• Dungog
• Port Stephens

Our area covers approximately 5, 500 Km² and approximately 198, 000 people across all 4 LGAs (Correct as of 2011 Census).
