Ormond Street Garage - Paddington

After taking my car to this mechanic complaining about my clutch, that I felt was slipping, he took my car for two days and said there was nothing wrong with my clutch and that it was the least of my worries. that my car needed new breaks and rear shocks $2000 later.... I go and pick my car up and he assures me the clutch is fine, even after I persisted there was an issue (I think he was just to lazy to check) a week later head up the coast on the way to a wedding, sure enough my clutch completely gives and I'm left stuck on the highway at midnight on Friday. Having to get my car towed into bulladelah ($500) hire a car to get to the wedding ($470) book a nights accomodation in buladelah ($150) even though I already had payed for accommodation at the wedding location, organise a taxi the next morning to get to a hire car depot which the closest is a ($400) fare, pay a higher fee on the car to be able to drop it in Sydney and organise a lift back up to bulladelah the following week to pick up my car once it's been repaired. All in all this has been an extremely fustrating situation not to meantion the rudeness and lack of professionalism from this buisness and his arrogance and laziness has burnt a large hole in my pocket and left me in annoyed. Poor service and lack of knowledge and enthusiasm very disappointed.

Rude arrogant staff. Stay away from them

I've been coming here for the last year and they are so generous with their time and attention - they've even fixed things for free for me. I think it's because the business is helmed by someone who makes enough money to not be greedy or tricky - they're just good, honest people. Thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic service from Gil and the boys. I first took my car to OSG after being ripped off by another mechanic who tried to tell me I needed $3000 worth of work on my $2500 car! Gil looked at it for no charge and disproved 90% of what I had been told.

More recently I brought my car in for a routine service and rego check. They broke down everything that needed fixing and let me know exactly what was optional - but would ensure the car ran better - and what was essential and needed to be done there and then.

I have recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.

Very helpful and nice staff. Gill fixed a small noise in my car and did not even charged me for that because it was really simple to fix. He earned me as a future customer with such nice gesture.

Had our Land Rover serviced &found out our wheel alignment was off and had damaged two tyres. Ormond St suggested cheaper alternatives and had everything fixed in 48 hours. Our continentals had previously cost 650-800$ each. Saved a big chunk of change and service was great. Who would have thought that in Paddington we'd save money! We will be coming back.

Few weeks ago I brought a car to the garage to check the car's condition before buying it. The guys who worked in the service were very helpful and provided excellent service. They check every inch of the car and they found a few issues, but these issues weren't major problems, so I bought the car. So far I'm happy that that I used this garage and bought the car. I will keep using Ormond Street Garage in the future.

Took my car here for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a general service. Gil called me to advise I needed a load of issues fixed including a new rocker cover gasket, both driver belts to be replaced, new front bearing plus some other smaller things that totaled around $800. I then said no to anything besides a basic service, and when I picked up my car he had charged me for 4.5 litres of high performance oil for my Swift when my car only takes around 3.5 litres. Took it to another mechanic that said none of the issues raised needed to be fixed. Definitely saw a female and took advantage.

My girlfriend and I had packed the car ready to drive from Sydney to Brisbane and the battery died. We called Gil at Ormand Street Garage and he came out to our place in 10mins. He let us follow him back to the garage, tested the battery and had it changed for us in 30mins. Without prompting, he checked the oil, coolant and checked the tire pressure to make sure we were good to go. One of the nicest blokes you will meet...great to see that exceptional service is still alive. Would highly recommend. Always honest and customer focused. Thanks Gil. Scott and Rebecca
