We have just arrived at a lovely stables 5 minutes from the boat resting up before we set sail for home. Getting a moment to reflect on our mammoth TQ18 journey. What an absolute ball we have had with our super horses and team of riders and crew. The race was of course the highlight with us having competitive horses and completion horses running so keeping us our toes. The track was tough and technical with changing ground conditions continually. 4 of our horses came undone...

Full report on our TQ18 weekend and pictures to follow apologise for our lack of posts it’s been busy!! It was as usual the roller coaster of emotions that the Quilty brings . 3 of our horses placed Top 5 of their divisions. This film was taken yesterday morning when we moved the horses to a near by farm to rest before the boat tonight. So happy to see 7 very fit and happy horses after their ride! Red Cardinal being her usual sassy self.

Busy busy day! Oso installed at TQ camp site....sadly due to a little mishap rolling near a fence Cabrillas Heir has been withdrawn. He’s looking great today but not wanting to risk it he stayed back at Tassie home. Everyone has now arrived which is awesome! Inc. Jamie Green who will be partnered with OSO EVITA ! Pre ride entries and weighing today! Such an awesome team a fun few days ahead!

Day #8 !!!Today we welcomed two of our guest riders to the OSO camp! Ben Hudson who will be riding OSO Ellazandra and Sorsha Stuart Rokvic on OSO Emelyne . They had a fab ride enjoying the glorious Tassie Sunshine. A few delays with flights for the rest of today’s crew however all now on route! Lovely pictures thanks to Sarah Mclaughlin !!😘

Day #7 we welcomed our junior rider Tahnaya, Mum Michelle and sister Kaitlyn. Brag was as thrilled to see his jockey as she was such a great connection! Today the horses did 14km a mix of flat and hill climbs and then a trot up session 👌. The weather has been and hopefully continues to be beautiful! Over the past few days we have managed a few mini tourist trips close to the horses which has been lovely! However the Meander river duck play dates, team cooked dinners together and a lot of fun and laughter has been the high light. Tomorrow our remaining 3 celebrity riders arrive and our farrier to fit the jimmy choos and Nike airs ready for the big day! 👠👟👠👟. A few pics of the days x

A walker day for the horses gave us a chance to head to TQ ride base to set up yards and meet the OC. We had a very warm welcome and couldn’t have been helped setting up any more. In the 12 months since we attended the test event so much has been done to improve the venue. Being ride organisers we appreciate the pressures involved in a normal ride let alone a Quilty. A few film clips of our site, vet gate and photos of some of our goofy team 🤪🤪. #tomquiltygoldcup #tomquilty2018 #osoarabians

Another successful day (#4)with the TQ team. A frosty morning meant for a fabulous morning ride for the horses. 14km of stunning riding in the national park giving them a touch of hill work and some different training underfoot to keep the grey matter ticking over. Hot bubble baths after and a relaxed afternoon for our 4 legged friends. The 2 legged crew were treated to a lovely BBQ lunch by our hosts and the best cheesecake! We are feeling very spoilt! A few hours to spare ...after lunch meant we got to explore the town of Deloraine which is home until we head to the TQ base in Scottsdale. The beautiful Meander River runs through town and made for a bit of fun for all!! The kids even got to see a wild Platypus! Tasmania really is a magical place. Awesome seeing more mainlanders heading over today ,tonight and tomorrow!! Safe travels to you all!!!🚢 Here’s a little clip of our day.. enjoy!!!

Day #3 of our Tasmania Tour!! ... a week until the big day! A day of legging the horses back up into ridden work after the journey. Always the risk of tying up on everyone’s mind with so many mares however our decision on feed, paddocks and work made for a successful 10km ride. All having the chance to clear their lungs and have a light sweat 👌 Lots of Equissage carrots and attention after plus a birthday cake for Lee who turned 12 today!! Our beautiful white Matriarch mare ...(now mother of 2 fillies) takes on her 4th Quilty ! Tomorrow is “bush bashing” day for the team and not long until our 8th horse joins us after his spa week in Gippsland! (Film of day to follow)

Day #2 very excited to see land at 5am after a good crossing a few bumps but very lucky. 6.30am team OSO were the first through the doors to the vehicle deck finding 7 happy healthy horses who all had a lovely long drink Before heading to Bio security checks 20 mins off the boat... I won’t go into the very frantic fast tyre change before disembarking story... other than nailed it with seconds to spare 🤯thanks Pat Lamprey for your brief hospitality before we whizzed our precious cargo away. Next stop our home for the next week with the wonderful Chris and Keryn who could not be more accommodating! Horses all out in paddocks for the day doing nothing more than being horses...perfect! Tomorrow’s rides maybe fun judging on the evenings hand walk!!!😬🤭cooking on gas!!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

Moment of entry!!! Lol 😝excuse the drivers language... it’s a tad daunting driving the big girl into the nose of a ship!!!(who’s Greek apparently!!)

User

Well that’s that!! Day #1 of our Tassie adventure to TQ18! After the 7 horses had a quick ride at the farm we hit the road to Melbourne with a lovely chilled stop over at an equestrian centre where the horses ate, drank and had some down time! Ploughing (literally in my case with a flat tyre on the float) through rush hour traffic to the Boat the horses had a smooth run into the centre of the boat with no concerns. I however hit a vigorous quarantine inspection with (tyre getting flatter) on the very clean and tidy support float 🙈😂. Once on board the horses were checked and seemed oblivious to the goings on....7 humans all checked in to cabins.. fed and watered!!! Fingers crossed for a smooth crossing!
