#Hunger. It’s one of the greatest problems that many developing countries still face today. While many of us enjoy the pleasures of dining out, there are millions of people, many children, in the Philippines (and around the world) that do not get enough 🍲 to eat most especially during rainy season.
Throughout monsoon season in the Philippines, the ⛈️ are coming down hard especially on our dear brothers and sisters in the Dumagat Tribe located deep into the mountains. Their l...ocation is perilously bordered by rivers and streams which tend to overflow during rainy season. The rains continue to flood and disrupt the community’s farms and their means of living – transporting goods in exchange for money. But we can’t afford to let them go hungry.
Every single month, we work together with our partner, Tribu Ni Bro, headed by Bimboy Pielago Soque to deliver food to the community. Tribu ni Bro volunteers do so much just to reach the tribe. If they have to go through dangerous rivers, they don’t mind. 💪

#OALoveProject Fish Pond Restoration began early this year as an initiative to help the Dumagat tribe in Sitio Quinao, Philippines build their community's fish ponds. 🐟🐟🐟
Fish is one of the main sources of food for women, youths and children in the community. But its demand has remained largely unmet because of the frequent climate changes in the Philippines. Due to the shortage, the tribe had to resort to other sources of income that illegal logging generated for them. Afte...r the pond became empty, they used to sell planks of wood for food and other supplies, which wasn’t sustainable and was harmful to the environment.
That's why #OALoveProjects has made it a priority to build three local fishponds to support the Dumagat tribe. Starting with Sitio Kabuoan, hoses were installed to draw water into the pond, Tilapia fingerlings would be brought in and caretakers—Tatay Tony, Nanay Ester and Ate Mercy—were assigned to keep watch of each pond.

One of the main highlights of the visit was to organise learning activities for the youth of SOS Cebu who are looking to make a career in the virtual assistance industry.
