Absolutely terrible service by one of the Italian girls serving the takeaway counter. She had attitude at the start, didn't get my order right and crammed all the items in 2 small boxes. When I came back advising she didn't include other items which I ordered she gave attitude once again. I requested for the items to be put into a bigger box, what she did was put it into a bigger box but crammed everything in.

If I could give a rating just based on service it would be a minus!

Amazing selection of biscuits, and ricotta cheesecake is incredible. Bread, pizza slices and coffee are all great too. Very hard to go wrong with your choice here.

Is it me or has the quality of this place gone down. I used to come often as it’s close by and I loved the crispy cannolis. On three recent occasions after the expansion, the cannoli shells were soggy. I could not recall having soggy shells previously.

There weren’t as many people last night but staff were really unenthusiastic and I’m not even trying to be pedantic, but not even a smile. I would expect it from a take away store but not a cafe that has supposedly upgraded. Other than that, the staff that cleared plate were nice enough.

Went to Papa's for breakfast, which btw is only served till 11:30 am. I'm a firm believer that breakfast should be an all day affair, this is where McDonald's got it right finally. Anyway back to Papa, ordered the Papa Breakfast (2 poached eggs, Italian sausage, maple glazed bacon, slow roast tomatoes, smashed avocado, sauteed mushrooms & toasted sour dough) $19 & Coffee Frappe $7.

The Papa Breakfast whilst fantastically presented & substantial, was not quite fulfilling. The small variety of tomatoes were roasted to perfection & in combination with the smashed avocado were a real treat to the palette.

Unfortunately, I could not get any hint of maple in the maple glazed bacon, the sauteed mushrooms were a tad bit salty & the eggs were more hard boiled than poached. Upon being served the dish the waitress did not provide any napkins nor offer any pepper.

The coffee frappe was way too milky, not coffee flavoured enough & garnished with way too much cream. I think when you order the frappe the person taking the order should ask if you'd prefer it with cream. It could use an extra shot espresso.

All in all it was an average experience & nothing special.

This is my fav cake shop in Sydney! BAKED RICOTTA CAKE is one of my favourite and really tasty! And affordable price! I always buy this cake and all my friends love it! I am so happy that I find this place to buy nice cakes and some muffins. Staffs are poilite and like to interact with customers which is great. I highly recommend this place.

I have been going here for years as they have great Italian cakes and sweets. I was keen to experience their new extension and decided to drop in for dinner. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was ok. The calzone looked great but was soggy and contained too much clumps of ham. It also lacked flavour. Pork belly was average and my ravioli was too small a serving. Calamari and prawns were nice with a flavoursome and non greasy batter. Coffee was weak and milky. There is better coffee in Haberfield but I was hoping with their new look they may have mastered a good espresso by now. Hope Papas can refine their formal dining as they have invested a lot in the refurbishments and new image.

Cakes are great. Restaurant is ok. Some of the staff are slightly over serving, and make you feeling like they're doing you a favour.

Probably our favourite Italian place in the Inner West. The canoli and coffee is always top notch. The pizza with anchovies that we tried for the first time was delicious. Can be quite crowded, so it's smart to visit just before lunch hour.
Very easy to find parking on one of the streets nearby - Ramsay Street always has spots.

Awesome place for Italian food and desserts! Heard about the ricotta cheesecake and cannoli, and boy, they do not disappoint! Simply amazing! Decided to try out the restaurant since we were there for the desserts. The food was fantastic...light, tasty, and completely satisfying. The Papa Knows Best pizza, the porcini pizza and the almond crusted prawns were so tasty! Tried a couple pasta dishes too...good, but not as good as the pizza or prawns. This place gets busy on the weekends so try to make reservations. The staff are quick and efficient. There's a city parking lot across the street that's free for 2 hours, but it's very limited.

Booked this late for a Saturday night family meal with young children. Great welcome and patient staff who were more than happy to be flexible around our dietary needs and paid attention to make sure we were happy. We sat outside in a nice covered area in which families, groups and couples sat happily together.

Food was well presented and individual flavours came out with a cut above standard pizza/pasta fare. The salads were exceptional and the buffalo mozzarella amazingly fresh. The great benefit of eating in a combined restaurant and deli. The Gelatos for the kids at the end were also exceptional and the wine by the glass for the grown ups was generous and served in a proper large glass as you would expect in a high end restaurant

A great choice for a family dinner or large group with a friendly atmosphere without compromising the Italian fine-dining experience.

I know this place is known for its patisserie but im writing about its food. the food is really amazing. We frequently order the pizza and pasta and enjoy it every time.

Wow! First time I've ever eaten my favourite cake "famous papa's baked ricotta cheesecake" and also consumed part of an eggshell inside the ricotta mixture... I'm not sure but the quality of their cakes has slumped quite a bit. Also the service was pretty crap! Was told when I got there that there were no ricotta cakes left, however I called 30 mins before to make sure there was some there before I left to go get one.. the waitress stupidly didn't even check the display fridge where 5 ricotta cakes were still sitting! She just told me oh we only have 5 left... lol I said well lucky I only need 1 then... very stupid! Kick your staff up the backsides and whoever is making your beautiful cakes with your famous recipe (keep a close eye on them) because they are ruining your reputation.. not sure if I will ever buy this cake again! Do not go to haberfield store. Five dock is probably the best out of all of them

Unfortunately their cake quality has decreased this past year. Twice I've had an undercooked baked ricotta cheesecake in the middle (they tried to convince me TWICE seperate times it was moisture... I think we all know what raw dough tastes like) and a blueberry cheesecake that, instead of being creamy and soft, was overloaded with gelatine, had a powdery taste and had little flavour.

Their quality just is not the same and I think it's due to the further expansion of the business and lack of proper quality assurance. Every baker knows that every cake is unique and for good cakes you can't just follow a recipe and expect it to be good without testing it.

Their restaurant, however, is a lovely Italian dining experience. Fresh ingredients, great drink selection and the coffee is pretty great. I still go there for drinks and food with friends but I don't get their cakes anymore. I go down the road.

I always recommend listening to customer feedback and instead of trying to excuse or hide a problem with the same line, taking it on board. Always test your cakes to make sure they're cooked evenly and have the right amounts of ingredients.

The best Italian cake Shop you can find in Sydney. Genuine Italian place with all good and bad that comes with it.... If You try the cakes you won't be disappointed!
