Peter Wilkinson is MD of Wilkinson Group and Chair of Etched Communications. He is also Chair of the Global Communications Alliance, an association of premier independent agencies.

Wilkinson Group specialises in Crisis & Recovery, leadership support, and transforming communication teams.

Etched Communications specialises in strategic PR advice to midsize /large companies including media relations, government relations, community relations and social media campaigns.

Peter was one of Australia’s most respected newsmen with over 30 years working on programs including the ABC’s This Day Tonight and Four Corners, and then Channel Nine’s ACA and 60 Minutes.

Peter co-founded the Wilkinson Group with Claire Wilkinson in 2002 after observing the early damaging impact of the Internet on television.

As a CrisisPR & Recovery expert, Peter has achieved successful outcomes including industry restructures, product recalls, court cases and judicial inquiries, pollution spills, extortion and blackmail threats, and countering activist campaigns. A lot of these crises were exacerbated by social media and globalisation.

This work has also more recently evolved into advising on the restructure of companies facing rapid change /disruptive technologies, integrating social /digital initiatives into the organisation.

Peter was through 2013 on the Board of uneOpen p /l, a company set up by the University of New England to manage the disruptive changes from MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses).

In mid-2013 Peter and Claire sold much of the business to four employees who set up Etched Communications, which Peter later joined as Chairman.

He is past regional president (Asia /Pacific) of IPREX, one of the world’s global largest PR corporations.

Peter has been a member of four industry taskforces, strengthening relationships between industry and government.
