Port Of Echuca Discovery Centre

The new playground needs more shade but otherwise it's great.

Should be free. Not much to say about it. Need more attraction and most of the stuff are closed !

If you're interested in Australia in the 18th century then this place is a must see. We did the $40 paddle steamer, lunch and Port of Echuca guided tour. All were fantastic.

Heaps and heaps of history on the whale area and lots of lovely old buildings. Hours of interest

Book your paddle boat ride from here, worth a look around plenty of historical data. Relaxing

A wonderful holiday destinatin - I visited outside the holiday season and found it very relaxing. Plenty of walks along the rivers; paddle steamer rides and great food places.

The restored wharf, the historical shops, pubs, etc together with the artisans at work and steamboat whistles in the background gives a great feeling of life on the river in the 1870's. However, the information provided on the tour from the Discovery Centre was lacking in its treatment of life on the river prior to white settlement. There was no mention of the very strong indigenous culture along the Murray river apart from the name of Echuca as “Meeting of the Waters”. An offhand comment was made about a burial ground. It was embarrassing to have international tourists present. Not good enough Echuca management. Time to bring your attitudes up to contemporary community expectations.

If not the best, it was one of the best guided tours I have ever attended. The guide was amazing and they even have three big steam engines working in display! Highly recommended
