Amazing steak! The bread, butter, garlic and everything they gave us was simply amazing.

Really rich in in flavour accompanied with red wine.

I have no idea what Argentinian food is. But my first taste at Porteno definitely agreed with my palette. Argentinian food is influenced by European Mediterranean cuisines, which makes it easy for me to sample and what’s really striking my interest is their meat selection and BBQ especially when you take a preview over the open grill. The place was simply packed. Granted it’s a Friday night, but I was lucky and found myself tucked at the bar elbow elbow with fellow dinners, secretly wishing to try each other’s respective dish.

Had the octopus, slow cooked crispy pork belly, broccoli, and side of bread for two people. Amazing! Pork was juicy and crispy, broc was fantastic and good service. Well done Porteno.

Good food !
Make sure when you go, that you're fairly hungry.
Meals are satisfyingly filling.
And there's a cute little wait bar around the corner linked to the restaurant if you can't get into Porteno straight away.

First time at new venue and would have to say the original venue was better. It’s lost a bit of uniqueness and looks like any other trendy Surry hills restaurant. I’ll start with the cons, the menu was better at the original restaurant the roasted animal we had was pork belly, I was underwhelmed, no Smokey wood fired flavours, could have been pork belly cooked conventionally, it was not outstanding. The old open fire pit at original venue added an integrity to the wood fired menu and cooking that the current venue lacks. The desserts were tasty but not out of the world. I feel like they could do something a bit more creative. The starters were definitely the piece de resistance, flavourful ingredients that create a dish worthy of eating! I personally would order more of those rather then the mains. The staff are wonderful and very attentive, they all look fabulous in their outfits too. The wine by glass is limited but by the bottle is descent. It’s definitely a place you go with a group of four or more rather then a couple so you can order a few different dishes a get a better experience of the place.

Very busy restaurant, we had to come back an hour later to get our table. Food was amazing...melt in the mouth meat. Excellent service.

Fantastic food, great wine list and faultless service. They know how to cook their meats. Lots of Argentinian Malbecs to compliment the meat dishes. Worthy of their hat status.

Nice atmosphere, great service. Pork belly & wagyu beef were amazing. Have to eat them fast as they can get cold very quickly which affect the taste. Their wine list is predominantly Italian & south American. Will come back.

Fire grilled meats and vegetables Argentinean style. These two chefs rock. A stylish place to dine with a date or friends. Spectacular dishes

Delicious tapas style restaurant in Surrey hills of Sydney. We went with friends and tried amazing dishes, but mostly is a beef heavy menu. The drinks are about on par with those in Sydney overall, but wine is more like $15/glass.

Amazing restaurant with great staff. We had the animal of the day and it was the grass fed beef ribs that was cooked for almost 8 hours. It was to die for! Tender, juicy and it melted in my mouth! Friend had the spatchcock and absolutely enjoyed it! Recommended!

Still one of the leading restaurants in Sydney. If these guys know anything, it's service, food and atmosphere. A winning triple combo when running several highly successful restaurants. You can really tell that the staff love working there because they are all delightful. What they've done to the place is quite impressive too, so light and bright with big beautiful windows with the open kitchen and long bar centre stage and in the heart of the place. The food was glorious! The animal of the day was suckling pig, and it was the best piece of pork I've ever tasted, so juicy and salty crunchy crackling, it was my dream come true. Another stand out was the milk flan. The cocktail that the barman made for me was incredible, my recommendation is to request they make something for you for whatever it is you feel like that day, trust me you won't be disappointed. Will be coming back and telling everyone I know about this place.
