Keeping an eye on mum. Did you know that engaging with your newborn when they are feeding can help with socialisation skills. I mean we all socialise at meal times. Family dinners round the table, Picnic with friends and dinner parties to name a few. ππ

When achieving a deep latch your little one needs to have a wide open mouth with the tongue down. Swiftly bring baby to breast so that they get a mouthful of breast. The nipple needs to sit way back in your babyβs mouth at the junction of the hard and soft palate. Pain and damage occur when the nipple is rubbing against the hard palate of your babyβs mouth ie) a shallow latch. For support or advice on any breastfeeding issues please contact me. Link in ππΌ

Breast compression can assist in stimulating another βlet downβ. Increasing milk flow encourages a baby to keep actively sucking as they are being rewarded. Ideal for babies who have a week or poor suck or are sleepy at the breast. It can also help to increase milk supply by ensuring the breasts are thoroughly emptied receiving all that high fat content in the hind milk π

Feeling very snoozey after a full feed from mum ππΌπ΄π Happy Breastfeeding week π€±π€
This 2 day old baby has been on a feeding frenzy trying to bring in mumβs milk. A normal and natural way of letting her breasts know that bub wants more. Stimulating the breasts is one of several factors involved in the transition from colostrum to transitional and then established milk supply. Supply and demand. Nature has a way of supplying exactly the right amount of milk for your babies needs and feeding on demand gives baby the lead role in ensuring this happens. ππΌπ€±π
Snuggling a newborn in close in a flexed position with arms swaddled and knee bent can help to settle them ready for sleep π΄ after all they were flexed and bundled inside mumβs tummy π€

A supply line can support mum and baby to successfully exclusively feed from the breast even if top ups of formula are needed.
Somebodyβs saying Hi on my account as itβs been a while since Iβve posted. As guilty as I feel for dropping the ball on my social media engagement other stuff can get in the way. Important stuff and prioritising certain things means needing to put a couple of balls down in the juggling game called LIFE. Iβm sure there are many of you mummas out there who have had to do the same. Have no fear Postnatal Angels is always here to help with any breastfeeding or sleep and settling challenges you may have with your little one. Contact me with Link in bio ππΌ
Reading to babies from an early age is great for their communication/ language development. Incorporating it into their bedtime routine as a space to calm and relax before sleep can be helpful in enabling babies to learn what is expected of them. Providing predictable routines that they become used to facilitates a safe and secure environment that babies respond well to.
Done and dusted! The satiation of a well fed baby πΆπΌ π΄
It has to be said that sometimes the only way your baby may settle is with a top up to comfort and regulate their emotional state. Doing this wrapped can help ease the transition to cot once baby has calmed if thatβs where you want them to settle to sleep πππΌπ΄
