Punchinello celebrated Children’s Book Week from the 17-24th August. Each year across Australia, the Children's book council Australia brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children's Book Week 📚. The Frogs and Tadpoles were encouraged to dress up as there favourite character and bring in a book from home to share with their peers. #bookweek #loveforbooks

On Tuesday night Punchinello had a fantastic turn out to our parent information evening. Parents were able to take a look at their children’s portfolios and speak to the Frogs and Tadpoles educators before listening to our three speakers Sonja Walker, Miss Claire and Emily Rhodes. Sonja Walker the founder of Kids First Children's Services shared her book ‘School Ready’ which has recently been launched. Miss Claire our ECT spoke about school readiness at Punchinello. Emily Rhodes the Deputy Principle of K-2 at Balgowlah Heights Public School spoke about what to expect in Kindergarten and how to prepare your child/children for school. #schoolreadiness #parentinformationevening

Today was the last day of Super Hero Week at Punchinello. A big thank you to all of the families and staff that made a donation for Bear Cottage. We raised a grand total of $155.50. #bearcottage #superheroweek

Punchinello was very lucky on Monday to have a visit from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 51 Forestville. We learnt about the importance of having smoke alarms and if there is smoke you need to get down low and go go go! The children also got shown some pictures of ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ fires. One of the firefighters also showed us his uniform. Next we went outside and had a close look at the fire engine. #firefighters #fireengine

We have had a common interest in rubbish bins this week. This was continued with the small bins being placed into the sandpit. #bins #sandpit

Spontaneous experience: After hearing laughing Kookaburras on Friday afternoon the children went looking for them in the trees surrounding Punchinello’s playground. #birdwatching #kookaburras

On Thursday there were roadworks outside Punchinello while Wanganella Street was resurfaced 🚧 #RoadMachines

We hope that all our beautiful Punchinello Mum’s, Grandma’s and Aunties had a wonderful Mother’s Day. We enjoyed celebrating with those who could make it on Friday to our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. The Frogs and Tadpoles were very busy in the weeks leading up making special Mother’s Day presents, decorations and food to share with their Families. #mothersday2018

We would like to wish all the Punchinello children, families and staff a Very Merry Christas and a Happy New Year. It has been a wonderful lead up to Christmas with another fantastic Children’s Christmas party and graduation. Followed by our Staff Christmas party. It is such a wonderful time of year full of laughter, reminiscing, magic and happiness🎄

It is that time of the year where the Children’s portfolios and family presents are being sent home.

Punchinello Kindergarten: ECT Punchinello Kindergarten is a well-established Long Day care centre (33 places per day) and has been providing educational services to the local Balgowlah community for many years. We are seeking a long term Early Childhood Teacher to join our team in 2018 and lead the 3-5 age group. The ideal applicant should be experienced, energetic, have a strong sense of teamwork and be motivated. Your role involves the responsibilities of programming, plann...ing, observing, setting up daily activities and overseeing the educational program in the centre. The successful person will enjoy working alongside supportive and passionate educators who have worked long term in the centre. An understanding of the EYLF and NQS and strong verbal and written communication skills is essential. Permanent: from 34 - 38 hours per week. We're going on a lizard hunt: outside the Tadpoles have been finding a large number of lizards sunning themselves.

Balloon games: following on from the Frogs ball sports and games with rules during the week.

Making smoothies: following interest of Tadpoles after they used their imaginations in our outdoor environment to make 'sand smoothies'.

Erupting volcano 🌋: To finish the Frogs interest in dinosaurs and volcanos they used their paper mâché volcano outside in a science experiment.

Punchinello's construction site: open role play area with tools, construction hats, tool belts, goggles, books, foam and wooden blocks. This new area was introduced last week following both the Tadpoles and Frogs amazing group constructions they have been making with a range of different equipment.

The Frogs have worked very hard over a two week period to create an amazing dinosaur small world table. The Frogs interest in dinosaurs will be extended further next week due to their enthusiasm and passion shown for dinosaurs during this time. A huge thank you goes out to all the families who have contributed to this interest by sending in books, dinosaur models and dinosaur toys to be used in group times.
