Yesterday "was a gorgeous day to shoot a wedding down at Raffertys Resort Lake Macquarie. Beverly and Neville were married with around 40 guests watching on. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, makes my job super easy! After a morning ceremony everyone went inside for some amazing vegetarian lunch. There were few formalities, it was more a luncheon with family and friends. After reception Bev, Nev and I did a few quick portraits around the grounds as the sun was setting. What a perfect day!"

Head to the northern end of the lake to enjoy - Lake Macquarie City Farmers Market - browse the stalls while sipping on a fresh coffee - Once finished shopping take the kids to Speers Point Park to burn their energy - Mosey on over to Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery for a bit of creative, quiet time

An easy 15 minute drive from the resort is the start of the historic, 15km Fernleigh track, that was once a rail line that connected the coal mines in Lake Macquarie with the port of Newcastle.
- See heritage railway relics along the track, including ... former stations, signage and old rail sleepers - The Fernleigh Tunnel is a highlight, a restored 181 metre long, curved rail tunnel that marks the connecting point between the cities of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle - The track is built along a green corridor, taking in wetland, coastal and bushland environments. Last night this happened! What an honour to not only win The Brides Choice for Wedding Venue but we also came away with “Best of the Best” 🏆 A big big Thankyou to all of our wonderful couples who chose Raffertys Resort to celebrate their special day and for voting for us. We had a 2 bedroom unit $300 a night. The unit was really dirty, there was scum all through the shower floor, cob webs everywhere, mould on the a.c. vents and dead cockroaches and bugs on the floor. The lounge was ripped and filthy and we even had unwashed dishes on the sink. The ballastrade on the staircase was held on by a few screws at the base and had bad wobbles, very dangerous. Worst of all there was a no hot water. 1 person had a quick shower and the other 3 of us left to have ice cold showers. After speaking with the front counter reservations manager he gave me keys to another room to have a shower thankfully. However when I told him how disgusting the room was he proceeded to tell me that we actually booked the cheapest room in the resort to which I replied people around us paid the same and they have much nicer newer rooms and he then replied well that room is actually the worst we have, you get what you pay for! I still can't believe he said that. I wouldn't stay there again and I certainly wouldn't ever recommend staying there. The photos online do not represent where we stayed or the high amount of money we paid for this filth. I will ensure every person I know and every website I can find gets a true review on your establishment.
