Decent English styled pub, very busy Friday nights, deserted Sat/Sun (as all places are in N Syd). Good selection of beer on tap and live music on Friday nights.
Cheap steaks upstairs on a Thursday.
A dying breed, a proper boozer.

The local reliable pub for North Sydney. Good pub food, loads of sport, nice outdoor area. Always someone having a cheeky drink here, which is saying something in North Sydney!

Disgusting, rude, appalling, horrible treatment by the young girls who run the bar. Lied and called police for no reason. Never go to this establishment it is the worst.
What a joke of an establishment. I was asked to leave by the bar staff who were in a bad mood. Spoke to the owner and manager who defended the lies and attitude of the staff. Have 60 staff that used to regular the bar but all have had issues with the unreasonable lying nasty staff. The food is vile and the beer is warm. The Greenwood, Firehouse, The Greens and Tree house are all local and much better establishments and the food is incredible....just lost 60 patrons to the better places close by.

Response from the ownerin the last week

Hi Andrew, as you would be aware your concerns have bean dealt with by the licensee, business owner and local police. If you would to speak further please contact us directly at the venue.

No point to contact you again as your manager said "I got it wrong it wasnt you" but still banned anyway for swearing as anybody would when kicked out for no reason admitted by Chris the Manger. We will just continue to have all our work drinks and functions elsewhere. Plenty of great places. Your loss not mine.

Attended a function there tonight. While looking for my crowd I had a wonder around there. Different ambiences created for all the different people that come there from a typical pub style corners to white table cloth covered tables with linen napkins and stylish antique style furniture, all under one roof. Pleasant service, nice finger for and a variety of beers, it certainly offers more than you'd expect.

Great food. Regular crowd. Good nighttime entertainment. Not a club, so uni students/young people may want to keep that in mind. Good for sociable drinks.

I personally enjoy the karaoke!

I've never had a bad experience here at Rag & Famish. I've been to the trivia night and a couple of lunches or after work nibbles. They have the usually pub food and it is pretty good quality. Upstairs I've had their gnocchi and I suggest trying that.

User

great service, great food, a bit loud but overall a lovely place to spend an evening with friends

User

Nice bar and atmosphere, reasonably priced food. Comfortable and pleasant setting to sit in. Agree with other recent reviewers that bar staff are unfriendly, at least today at lunch anyway. Food below average, my guess is the beef burger patty is cooked from frozen, and if it isn't, it's underwhelming in both taste and texture.

For a first time, it was interesting. Nice karaoke night. Great choice of tap beers ! Would definitely come back to taste the ambiance in a “more classic” evening.

Absolutely terrible pub!! Drove to almost the front door of this pub & parked the car with two male friends after leaving the cinema it was 10:45 pm for a beer after the movie ( no one had consumed any alcohol yet). The pub was nearly empty & the guard at the door told us we had too much too drink!!! Dispite him seeing us pull up in a car, we also explained to him were we had come from & showed him one of our tickets, he told us to " f$&k off" & " go home"!! We asked him for his name which he refused & told us we better leave quick!! This is completely unsuitable for this day & age & would highly recommend boycotting this place!! As we were leaving we seen him denied a group of 2 girls & 1 guy. Got the feeling he didn't want anyone coming incase it would require him to have to do some kind of work. He was of perhaps of an African decent with very dark skin, unfortunately would give his name!!!!

Best Guinness in Sydney.
Creamy head.
You can taste the toasted barley.
The Guinness pie is a great feed as well.
11/10.

User

Great range of beers and the pizzas are good value for a pub dinner (~$16). Upstairs area is perfect for a function/reunion.

User

Simple pub done very well.
I literally popped in for a quick lunch. The food was great, everyone else was happy with theirs.
The service was quick despite the high level of business (being lunchtime).
Its obviously a favourite of the office folk working in the area, and given the area, the prices were not bad at all.
Repeat visits will certainly happen.
