〰️ How interesting! 〰️
We had a group of lovely visitors from Yamba this week.
We got chatting & one visitor shared that he had worked in the Grafton Correctional Centre. He recalled working with Raymond Denning, Grafton’s first escapee (1980). Raymond was serving a life sentence for a series of armed robberies & serious assaults (including one which led to the death of a guard!).
... We enjoy the stories and experiences that out visitors bring - with lots of interesting things to record 📖.
〰️ Pictured: These gorgeous bricks were made over 100 years ago by prisoners in the Grafton Gaol. The shapes of playing cards were commonly used, such as hearts, diamonds & spades, to ‘frog’ the bricks. Aren’t they lovely!
