Where do we start? On arrival, parking is next door on wilsons car park charging $30 p/day. We get into our room finding it cramped, dated and directly above the small pool area. We spoke to reception to see if there was an alternate room available and was told they were fully booked, within minutes we were told differently by another reception member and moved one floor up to a slightly better room. Over the course of our 2 day stay, we discover that many facilities promised were unavailable, including in-house movies, and the sauna. Moreover, tightly enclosed shower spaces and limited supplies of towels and lack of restaurant and bar facilities just added to the inadequacy of this hotel experience. The promise of a heated pool and spa were luke warm at best. Lastly, you may think location overwhelms these issues but the hotel is within a 10 minute walking distance of everything notable. If not for one friendly staff member, Ethan, this review would have gotten 1 star.

Please don't waste your time with this hotel. There are a myriad of better options available in the area. We won't be returning.

Lovely hotel in a great location. I was upgraded to one of the original terrace rooms. It had a nice pool. Staff were friendly and professional. Car parking was underneath. Would stay there again.

Room was clean and reasonably spacious. Bathroom was a little cramped and the sign warning you to keep the door closed or risk a $1600 bill if the fire alarm goes off was a little unsettling. Staff were helpful and courteous. Activity packs for the kids were presented when we asked for paper for them to draw on. Complimentary coffee machine in the foyer was good, though it was turned off one morning due to it 'over heating.'

User

Great historical location and in walking distance of everything in the quay, including the Opera House. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend staying here.

User

Have stayed there many times... it's a really good boutique hotel... good size rooms... great proximity to the circular quay and opera house.... with amazing views to the opera house from the rooms....

User

Really good location, however, the hotel itself is very dated. The rooms and general decor and feel of the hotel needs a renovation. A good place to stay if you are not going to spend much time in the hotel at all and are looking to be close to the city.

User

Loved the hotel. Highly recommend getting a room with a view, like we did. There is a cruise ship that will dock in front of the Opera House, but it doesn't block the entire view. Free espresso in the lobby is a nice touch.

User

Not big on maintenance. Not sure which decade they bought the kitchenette appliances. Not the worst place ive stayed but not the best either location is excellent.

I stay i Sydney occasionally for work and I decided after staying in the City heaps of times, I decided to stay near the trendy mecca of The Rocks near the Harbor and I loved it.

Located on Harrington Street, you start off at reception with helpful and lovely staff, and when I first checked in, my room wasn't ready and they happy took my luggage and recommended a great little cafe/bar down the road, and we had drinks and lunch, and then when the room was ready I got a courtesy call and a free upgrade.

The views from the apartment were spectacular and breathtaking, and in a lovely location.

The apartment was lovely, and it's a short walk to Circular Quay, great if you are doing day cruises and sight seeing.

I have been back 2 times since and would defintley return for theater trips coming up later this year.

User

The room is decent. There is a gym but it consist of very little. The pool is nice with a good hot tub. The location is amazing, walking distance to nearly anything you would want to go to, bridge climb, Opera house, pancakes on the rocks, everything!

User

Great for a stay overnight with restaurants nearby in The Rocks. Walking distance to see a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Room was good with a balcony to let in a breeze of air.

User

Great place. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Rooms large, comfortable and clean.

HOTEL WITH HIGH PROBABILITY OF ACTIVATION OF ALARM AND PAYMENT OF 1650 DOLLARS

Hotel unsafe, with high risk of activation of the fire alarm and fine payment of 1650 dollars.
It happened that on the day of my arrival at the hotel, on January 28, 2017, I involuntarily activated the fire alarm by placing the kettle on the electric stove with the arrival of firefighters. We were not moved to another room, in spite of the toxic smoke. The next day in the morning the dining room alarm was activated again, apparently from the steam in the shower. Effectively firefighters charge $ 1600 for false alarms within 60 days, and the one that occurs within the next 24 hours does not, as it waits for the smoke detector to be checked, which was not done.
At checkout, I was charged $ 1650 for the activation of the alarm, in an authoritarian and determinant manner. And they told me that the second one would not charge me, because they would take over, which is a lie, because firefighters do not charge them during the first 24 hours. They also stated that in the kettle and in the bathroom there were signs that informed about it, which we did not see, besides making it explicit in the information bulletin on entry.
Obviously it is usual to activate fire alarms in the hotel, because before 60 days had already occurred two episodes and warn that it may happen, so I do not recommend, not to suffer this terrible experience, that of being Anguished by the arrival of firefighters twice and the high cost of payment of the false alarm due to inadequate facilities.

Nice room with well equipped kitchen, small balcony with great view over the harbour. Parking is not ideal - some confusion in liaison with Wilson parking underneath the hotel. Its not cheap but it is in the centre of the Rocks.
