I totally LOVED it, and it's a shame there was a bushfire burning some of the old rail carriages. Beautifully restored buildings and train rides... great music there too. A very nice museum, not to be missed when in the area.

Great day out for the family and really well priced. Great that you can picnic here too.

Come here for a weekend! You should enjoy your time. Get a ride on a historic train at Richmond Vale, for a cheap price.. also walk around the museum and other historic railway areas.

The museum covers a large area, and there are two sides to the museum which is the railway museum and steam train rides, and the mining museum. There's also a nice kiosk on site to get lunch from.

The mining museum is housed in an old house and is filled with photos and artifacts from the mine which originally operated on this site. Sadly many of the displays seemed to be thrown together haphazardly, many with no attached explanation or signage.

The train museum looks like it has a lot of interesting rolling stock, but you can only partially see it from a distance as it's in a no entry area.

The running steam trains are great, but the rest of the "museum" could have been more interesting by being set up better.

Love trains - so there probably were things that might have been negatives but I don't remember them and didn't notice any!!!

User

Lovely little day out. Was able to ride the train and look around. Great historical place.

If you love railways then come here. It's off the beaten track and more but well worth a visit. Heaps of old memorabilia and the train trip is pretty cool.

User

It's a great place to go to get a ride on an old steam train. Could be so much better if they where allowed to fix some things up. Still a nice visit. Tickets are a little expensive for what you get. But the kids will love it.

User

nice for kids who love trains, very open space, not too crowded
