What an amazing day!! With close to 70 runners for Rio’s Legacy and over 80,000 running City 2 Surf 2018 it was a great day. Thank you to everyone for your efforts in running, raising much needed funds and creating awareness for kids with a terminal illness and their families. Be part of the Rio’s Legacy City 2 Surf team this year. It is a great event to get involved, have fun and enjoy the beauty that is friendship. Every step counts and and every kilometre makes a difference. Thanks to all for your support and donations. How to register for the Rio’s Legacy team: Register through the City 2 Surf website and the tab “Enter Now” Click on "Team Entry" on the top right. Enter and search for "Rios Legacy” (note the lack of apostrophe). Select the "Ri...os Legacy" team Complete the rest of the form by entering the required details. The Rio’s Legacy team will collect all race bibs for all runners and hand out Sunday morning before the race.

Children’s Hospices provide vital services to families free-of-charge, and substantially rely on the generosity of the community and corporate sector to raise the majority of the funds needed to care for families and their children. On average it costs over $4 million per year to provide respite and end-of-life care at hospices like Bear Cottage Very Special Kids and Hummingbird House, which are the only 3 Children’s Hospices in Australia. On top of this, it further costs to ...provide emotional, social and practical support services for families ($8,000 per year for each family to access the hospice and support services). With the majority of funding (self-funded) coming from the community through donations, appeals, events and other fundraising activities, it is important that we continue to assist these hospices and children, because they are so fearfully and wonderfully made. This is why Rio’s Legacy exists, in efforts to support such a cause and look to build more hospices for families in need across Australia. In efforts to create awareness, this is why we are doing Rio’s Run from Melbourne to Sydney (1st October - 26th October) to raise much needed funds for brave children like our dear Rio.
