River Island Nature Retreat

Awesome and the best place in Australia to unwind

Have not been to River Island Nature Retreat for a long time now. Very much used to enjoy relaxing there and I helped promote the resort via the river island nature retreat website.
Of course, I remember times when "naturism" was gaining popularity but I got involved when it had past its peak.
I have now not been asked to update the River Island activities for quite some time and haven't been surprised, believing that the owners had DONE THEIR BEST and deserved retirement.

BEWARE! This can turn out to be an expensive weekend if you don't study the pricing schedule properly. Also, this is a clothing optional retreat (we didn't take the option).
Having said that, it's a beautiful place and my partner and I heartily recommend it. I dealt with Katina who was really lovely and very accommodating. We all felt relaxed and at home in short order.

We had an unpowered campsite for, unfortunately, only one night and everyone in our party enjoyed themselves so much we were all very reluctant to leave. Lovely river-front site, handy portaloos and bins close by (but not too close).
The drive into the retreat would probably be most comfortably done in a 4wd but was managed in a Holden Astra in low gear.
Lots of exploring available for 4WDers, we had a blast wandering around on the other side of the river and seeing all the wildlife. Big thumbs up.

Had a great time nice drive down in a toyota coaster bus towing a 8 foot by 11 foot loaded trailer.
Day fees are reasonable camping fees great pools showers all in the day fees. Read prices on Web site carefully if you don't understand them call to clarify. Experience of alive time will go again. Was given a tow and help to get back out.
