Family member recently rented a property through Robinsons, The Junction. Currently applying for the bond back but have had a few interesting experiences with this. I will list a couple below:

Firstly, Robinson lost the initial inspection report and state they never received it.

Secondly, Robinson staff (2 different staff members in 2 separate conversations) advise you that you must give 21 days notice when vacating after the lease has ended, which is correct. What is NOT CORRECT is Robinson staff tell you that this 21 days notice must be on a business day (M-F) during business hours. Fair trading legislation does not support this made up rule by Robinson (and I have clarified this with Fair Trading directly), and I have to wonder how many renters in Newcastle have been charged up to 2 extra days based on Robinsons false and misleading information that notice has to be provided on a business day.

Thirdly, Robinson property held a second open for inspection without permission or authority to do so. We agreed to one inspection, of which they left all the windows open on the vacant property after the open house and there were no security screens (Robinson have denied this) and they simply held a second inspection without permission 3 days later, and after the property had been cleaned for exit.

The fourth point is that Robinson is in receipt of the tenants copy of the inspection report And have still insisted the property required a $395 worth of recelaning for a tiny one bedroom unit. Hilarious, considering they have been provided with the report. Oh, and according to Robinson, after cleaning the toilet and leaving disinfectant in the toilet bowl, this constitutes it needing to be cleaned again. Also of note is that, to date, 8 days after their "inspection", we are still yet to receive one single photo from them showing all the "dirty" issues.

What I also note, after reading these reviews, is that Robinson ask posters of negative reviews to remove them if their issues have been resolved. I guess some companies will do anything for a good review. Clearly what they don't get is that the negative experience still occurred, and the review is based on that. Talk about a lack of ethics and integrity, and the art of ripping off unsuspecting tenants with false and misleading information to scam an extra couple of days rent.

We look forward to the Fair Trading process and putting our experience formally on the record.

There is service that is good, excellent, and then there is exceptional. Jokingly I set Tenika my sales agent the task of selling my apartment by my birthday (2 weeks). It was sold on the first inspection at a price that I was more than I expected. I live in Sydney but that was no barrier as everything has handled professionally and promptly, nothing was a problem. I would highly recommend Robinsons to anyone purchasing, or selling. I purchased from them and their service was excellent then, and selling their service was exceptional. 10 out of 10.

I found the team at Robinson's extremely professional and their market knowledge made me feel like I was making the right decision when I was selling my home. Mike & his assistant Sonia guided me through what was an emotional time. They listen to all my concerns and we worked together . I couldnt recommend them highly enough.

Be wary of dealings with Michael Flook from Robinson Property at the Junction. I put an offer to him for a property he had listed at Merewether Heights. 3 days later he told me the vendor had rejected my offer, a week later I find out from the vendor herself that Michael never put my offer to her in the first place. Michael Flook and his conduct in this matter is currently the subject of an assessment by the Department of Fair Trading.

Update - 13th February 2017, almost 2 years after writing the Robinson’s review above I received a letter from Julien Castaldi, Partner at Laycock Burke Castaldi Lawyers requesting me to remove my post immediately, and threatening to commence proceedings if I fail to do so.
My response is that even if legal action by Robinson’s wasn’t prevented by the Defamation Act 2005 [NSW] Part 2 Division 2 point 9, and legal action by Michael Flook regarding the May 2015 review wasn’t prevented by the NSW Limitation Act 1969 Section 14B , I am in possession of correspondence from Michael Flook written to me, dated 13th May 2015 that supports the statements in my review and states explicitly in Michael’s own words that he did NOT pass my offer on to the vendor Mrs Langwell.
I stand by my complaint to NSW Fair Trading, I stand by my google review and will defend it if necessary

I have only rented though Robinson property and there the best in town. Always there that day to fix any problems I have with the house, the staff are friendly and helpful, so if you are looking to rent go though Robinson

Worst experience ever. I hadn't rented in over 20 years due to owning my own place. Moved from Brisbane to Newcastle and needed an interim house before purchasing another. The house we rented had numerous faults and since we offered and paid well above the asking rental I expected that these faults would be rectified quickly and with adequate communication. They weren't. Robinsons never responded to an email. The only time we heard from them was when we were moving out and they wanted money. They even tried having an open house on the day we moved out. When we asked them not to, they became very abrupt and rude. We had to get an injunction from NCAT to stop them.
Having bought several properties, I would NEVER consider this firm to handle any of my investment properties.
Steer well away from them!

My partner and I have rented through several companies over the past few years and I can genuinely say that Robinson Property have stood out above the rest. They are courteous, honest (this is so important), and they show respect to tenants, organising repairs in line with work schedules and give a heads up for any maintenance. The staff who do house inspections are super lovely.

When so many of my friends have problems with their property manages, I feel kind of guilty how lucky I've been.
