I know everyone is eager to know what that $200 lobster taste like. However since this is the first time I'm eating here I decided to sus out with T bone steak. And I can only imagine how good the lobster would have tasted. Definitely coming back.

Came here for a special occasion
Everything we ordered was from good to great
We tried the snapper, grilled octopus, pumpkin and sweet potato and they were all good

Steam strawberry clams and the mushy pees were my favourites. The clans really go well with the beans and the texture of the peas was mouth watering

The missus had the 30 month aged beef fillet and she enjoyed it

Service was attentive and friendly and had no issues asking them to take photos

We also ended up with a cup cake, how nice of them!

The lighting inside is dim,the place somehow remind me of "the shining" without the eerie-ness

Overall a great experience,I could eat the mushy peas and we satisfied

Romantic birthday dinner for my dear boyfriend. Server and sommelier was amazing. Didn't catch their names but they've made a simple experience pleasant, which is hard to get now days. Hope more guests and service industry upholds their standards like this. Thanks.

This place is known for steak, which was definitely pretty good, but what sealed it for me was the strawberry pudding and pumpkin side. The top of the pudding is blow torched similar to creme brulee and was just amazing.

Plates could be a little cleaner but given they change it after every dish it's understandable.

Service was a bit slow but the food made up for all that. Great extensive wine list. Surprisingly the onion rings were our mutual favourite while the Oysters came in second best.

Do not mind spending money on quality high end food and good service but very disappointed with quality and taste of food especially with steaks which were too ordinary and flavourless. All main dishes we ordered, seafood pasta and steaks, were toooo salty just like salt was the only available ingredient. After meal we did complain about the saltiness of the food to the waiter but received no positive reactions just like it was our fault to have the salty taste. Entrees were so so, nothing special to remember the taste. Overall quality of food definitely do not worth the value of money, far way of over-pricing. I believe it is easy to find better steaks in any pub around. The decor of restaurant and the name of celebrity Chef might attract customers to try out for experience but good experience with Quality of Food and Service are main key to keep customers coming back to restaurant. It is a BIG NO for us to coming back to this restaurant and will not recommend to our family and friends.

Absolutely incredible dining experience. I dined at the bar and the service was still fantastic. The food is honestly some of the best i have had in Sydney. The Big Eye Tuna was seared perfectly and so fresh that it needed nothing else. The snow pea and strawberry salad was fantastic. And the chipotle margarita was one of the best i have ever had. Just an absolutely fantastic meal

This is a review of the main restaurant at Rockpool Bar & Grill. The space is absolutely beautiful, with a high vaulted ceiling, huge dining room and open kitchen to the right side as you enter. We were greeted and seated immediately, and I was wished a happy birthday as well, which was lovely of them to note from the details on the booking.

The service was acceptable, but patchy. Our waitress took a long time after initially checking in with us before our order was taken, despite her attending the neighbouring tables and us attempting to get her attention.

Our pork belly and grilled squid entree was exquisite. Other than that, the food was average. I thought I'd be quite safe with ordering a steak there, but it really wasn't anything special. I was offered condiments for the steak after I had eaten two-thirds of it. The size of the sides was very generous, especially the chips.

Getting the bill took way too long, again a reflection of poor service. They did give me a lovely birthday cupcake, which I thought was very sweet.

Simply sitting in this restaurant is a lovely experience. I think some consistency and attention paid to service will make it a truly exquisite experience for everyone who walks through their doors. A big thank you to the team at Rockpool for all the birthday wishes, and I hope to give a 5 star review for my next visit.

The service was excellent and the food was very nice I would certainly come back. The art deco setting is really beautiful and I would say worth going by itself , feels like something out of Ayn Rand novel. The food was a little bit slow coming out and prompted us to ask one of the waiters if they could check but as soon as that was done everything else was fantastic. I would probably get the steak next time which is what they are known for but everything we had was delicious we got the short rib on their recommendation and the Wagyu shin pasta and all dishes were very consistent.

User

Excellent service. Art deco look is impressive. Entree is very tasty and the main course is average. Beware of extreme high price range. Patrons all look very happy possibly to avoid being escorted from the premises.

User

Great hearty food in a gorgeous venue with friendly and polite service. Only had an issue with the duck where on a little part there was a really hard membrane. That's the only fault and definitely will come back.

User

Loved the Art Deco decor, wonderful service and quality ingredients here. DH said the steak was the best he ever had. Wonderful, cozy bar. The service was a bit psychic, the waitstaff overheard us talking about someones birthday, and they sent a lovely cupcake over to celebrate. Nice touch.

Delightful. Rockpool is the only one of the top-tier Sydney restaurants where it's relatively easy to just walk in and get a table. The prices are reasonable - I mean yes, it's expensive, but there's a hundred restaurants in Sydney which are more expensive but are worse. The staff are attentive and thoughtful. The wine list is amazing, though obviously you should be careful ordering as there's some very, very expensive wines available. And last but not least, the food is world class.

You can get similarly good food at a couple of other restaurants in Sydney, but better food nowhere. Those restaurants, though, the ones which are on par with Rockpool - they're a real pain in the ass to actually eat at. Either you have to book long in advance, or you have to put up with someone else's set menu, or you're made to feel like a fish in a glass bowl. Rockpool provides an all-round excellent experience, which is why it is my favourite fine dining option in Sydney.
