About Run 4 Vision

Raising funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation and guiding visually impaired runners

Run 4 Vision Description

I started Run 4 Vision in 2007 in preparation for the Marathon des Sables 2008. After having watched a blind Japanese runner on TV conquering that cruel 7-day race across the desert, I did not need much more encouragement to dedicate my future running to a great cause.

Still today 4 out of 5 people who are blind don't need to be, over 25 million people are blind simply because they are born in the wrong place, without access to eye health care, suffer from malnutrition, and live in a poor hygienic environment.

I support the vision and dream of the late Professor Fred Hollows, and with my running I try to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation and help visually impaired people getting a fair go at running and enjoying the great outdoors.

What's next?

2014 saw team 'Run 4 Vision' finishing once more first over the line at the Sydney Coastrek 2014 racing for 50km through the night between Balmoral and Coogee Beach, together with a few shorter races this year, I also finished the 60km Carcoar Ultra in November and now am getting ready for a life changing challenge.

The next couple of month are all about getting ready for 260km non-stop racing across the desert at the Ocean Floor Race in Egypt next March 2015

Please follow my blog to learn about my progress in training, forthcoming fundraising events and my adventures with visually impaired runner Blind Freddy (Ben Phillips).

Happy feet,
Markus
