Sandy'S Secrets Description

Sandy’s Secrets
. . . because you can’t keep a Secret!

Sandy’s Secrets have set a new, uncompromising standard for chocolates. With her use of fresh ingredients, preservative free, and unique combinations, she has created a range of flavours that once tasted, make every other style of chocolate a poor relation.

The idea of making the best quality boutique chocolates came out of years of experiencing and then researching flavours and aromas from all over the world, from the spice markets of the Caribbean to the wild blackberries of our own Great Dividing Range.

Sandy’s long time love and use of essential oils met its perfect opportunity when she and her partner set sail in their yacht, Wind Wanderer, on a voyage of discovery that would eventually take them around the world.

As they crossed oceans, the South Pacific, Indian and Atlantic, they explored the markets and hippie communes and made friends with the locals. Along the way Sandy collected recipes and experimented with the exotic tastes and aromas she found. With her own unique creativity and new ingredients a range of flavours emerged, many new, some an enhanced version of the old favourites.

Her refusal to compromise taste resulted in the best raw ingredients sourced from ethical plantations combined with couverture chocolate. From their land base at Hanging Rock, (NSW) with its mountain air and fresh springs she soon added local ingredients such as blackberries, chestnuts and bush pepper.

You Can’t Keep a ‘Secret’:
Sandy’s range of boxed chocolates with her hallmark flavours include fresh ingredients. Being preservative free they have a short shelf life (3 weeks). The rest of her range have a shelf life of 3 months and may have traces of preservatives.

The Voyage:
From the Cayman Islands around Cuba to Key West, we rode the Gulf Stream between Florida and the Bahamas, along the Carolinas then up to the top of Chesapeake Bay.
Across to Bermuda (the best rum! ) and down to the spice islands of the Caribbean. Through the Panama Canal, down to Ecuador, through many island groups of the South Pacific such as the Marquesas, Tahiti, Bora Bora and Fiji, and on to Australia.
After sailing the east coast and crossing the top of Australia, we visited Cocos Keeling, Mauritius, rounded the bottom of Madagascar and headed on to South Africa.
Down the Garden Route and around Cape Agulhas to Cape Town. Loaded up with the rich diversity of African, Indian, Cape Dutch and Malay recipes we sailed up the west coast to Namibia with its German roots and across the South Atlantic, stopping in at St Helena (Napoleon’s exile), before the long haul across to Brazil and back to Trinidad in the Caribbean.

Our overall tastebud travels added Greece, Belgium, Holland, France, and England to the list as well as the USA West coast from Seattle down to San Diego and into Mexico. All covered in chocolate!
ENJOY!
